Re: what is causing this melting PLA at edge of extruder

The spaghetti you've got going there is due to the overhang and cooling. You need to get a fan on there to cool the PLA as it's extruded. As I mentioned though, make sure to take apart that hot end. You might find something that's causing a lot of your gaps in the print. It does look like you're not...

I guess the upped the wattage for the V2s. The V1 I got a few months ago still ran the 450W.

Re: Need some advice on my failed build

Be very careful cutting the wires on the 25 pin connector, some of them (usually the 3.3V sense pin) are usually deliberately shorted at the connector and they need to stay that way. Whoops. Machine has been working fine for months, but i'll keep this in mind in case things start to go a bit buggy ...

Re: what is causing this melting PLA at edge of extruder

Personally, I would pull that hot end apart. I would almost wonder if your PTFE tubing is missing inside or something. Leaking out the side like that is not normal. Were you still able to print properly?

Re: MECHANEIL'S RMAX 2ND EDITION BUILD

While I love the idea of the tube and it looks slick, did you keep it far enough away from the bed to allow the extruder nozzle get to the edge of the build zone and not have the arms/effector hit it? In that last picture it looks pretty close.

Re: Fake SSR Burned Up

You really should have had that thing on a heat sink of some kind. They generate quite a bit of heat. I'm no expert, but just looking at the unit, it appears it should be up to the task. Current rating was high enough and everything. It really looks like the only difference in the one you received a...

Re: Aluminium delta

Really cool. Looks like you've got one hell of a build height. I actually brought the cad files for the V2 to a metal shop and was hoping to get the whole frame laser cut out of aluminum. The cost of the metal wasn't bad, but the cost of the laser cutting was high enough that I could have bought a n...

Holy crap. That didn't look so big till I saw the stepper on the effector (zoomed in), then I noticed the chair in the room, then everything else! That thing is MASSIVE! How big is the final build area going to be?

Re: Printing ABS to plastic sheet?

Edit: Nooo, it is not bonding well to the styrene. I need to experiment with the first layer temperature and possibly slow it down to get the ABS to bond well to it. Darn! I was just reading this (cool idea by the way!) and I would have thought the same thing. Maybe you could jack up the temp of th...

Just heat up the ends and melt them together. Then take a knife or what have you and shave off the bulge it makes so it's smooth right through.

I like all that. Very clean. It's good to have parts. What are you planning on using for the arms? Carbon fibre? Aluminum? I've got my balls where they're not falling off now, but had those pre-tapped balls been around when I was doing mine, it would have been awesome. Just remember that if you're u...

Nice job on the parts! They look pretty damn good to me. I wish I knew some of the answers to your first post. I've wondered if there was a way to pause a print too so that a captive nut could be added or something similar. I know you could manually edit the gcode to pause and home the hot end and I...

Quick! Melt the green spool onto the end of the yellow and just have a different colored top!

That does sting though. That's too bad. The print looked really nice!

Is it possible to unclog the original hot end nozzle? Is the E3D v6 hot and direct fit for the Rostock Max v2 or are there other mods required? Of course. +1 for the dampers. HUGE difference. 4-5 hours is very little time, but when you have MONTHS clocked on your printer and it's running right behind you.... as MDMD said "...you won't understand how you survived without them."
