Re: Just received my kit - missing parts.
Does anyone with the dampers installed notice a difference in print performance? Any concerns about the flexibility of the motor mount being translated to the belt/arms?

Re: The next frontier…including the z-axis in printing path
Yes and collision detection algorithms will come into play to makes sure that the head doesn't hit the model. These can be complex but i am sure there has to be something we can take away from video games. They have to do collision detection all the time to makes sure you don't walk your character t...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
Thanks for the suggestion on the connectors. I'll take a look at the Deans and the Mate N Lock. I ordered some EC2 connectors from Hobbyking and may end up using them. (however they appear to be harder to disconnect than the others). If I use a Deans , EC2, Or other 2 Position connector for the heat...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
For the same amount of power (ie Watts), yes, the current would be less as the Volts go up. However, we aren't talking Watts we are talke Volts, Ohms, and Amps. Try pluging 12 volts and 3.5 Ohms into this Ohm's Law calculator. http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms_law_calculator.php Then try 24 volt...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
I understand it is obviously working for you guys and that the hotend won't be running at full current all the time. I am not saying everyone with those connectors needs to remove/replace them. I am saying that they are definitely undersized for the potential current that would be going through them...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
Actually isn't he recommending using this connector for the hot end (the resistors and the thermistor). If so that could be a lot more amps than this is rated for. If I recall the heating resistors are 5.8 ohms each. In parallel that means 3.4ohms. 12 Volts / 3.4 ohms = 3.5 Amps! If I am correct we ...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
Tonkabot, Thanks for looking into it. It would definitely cost less to get it from Digikey. However, the part numbers for the pins you provided are for 24-30 gauge wire. Looks like the hot end resistors will be using 18 awg (which makes sense). I couldn't find part numbers for pins for this housing ...

Don't forget about arduino tre coming soon... Eventually we may have monitor, keyboard, and mice connected directly to our printer's controller board running Linux. Modeling or downloading things, deriving complex minima tics, etc.

Re: Matter Control Software
Could you try temporarily changing your region setting in Windows to: Format of English (United States) (Control Panel -> Region and Language -> Formats tab) Then test with CuraEngine as the slicer to see if it still crashes. If it does not, that would confirm the theory that it is related to region...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
I was only able to work on it for about an hour last night. I opened the package, cleaned out all the packing material, and verified all the main parts, boxes, and part bags were in there. Tonight I plan to go through all the parts bags and the small hardware into labeled bins. Here is the box the p...

Re: Matter Control Software
@enggmaug Pay attention to what you are doing right before the error occurs. Is there any commonality. The only things I've found so far regarding those error codes is that One thing I see is that is could be an issue with the regional differences between how some numbers are handled. For example if...

Re: Matter Control Software
There is a topic discussing the merits/issues of them going closed here . In my opinion the market will decide whether or not it is a problem. For myself, I will be sticking with open source so I have the chance to update it and improve it to meet my needs. If I didn't have the need/desire to tinker...

Re: Matter Control Software
Even though I am new to all this, I am going to try using MatterControl right from the start and skip Repetier Host altogether since they're going closed source. I can code in C# so I think MatterControl will be a good fit for me. It sounds like John Oly is recommending it too. I think I'll be much ...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
Picked up my printer locally at SeeMeCNC today. Along with some extra filament. I hope to get to work on it a little each night this week and finish this weekend some time.
I'll at least get through checking through the BOM tonight.

The cheap digital caliper sucks!!! Anybody have any suggestions? I new it was cheap but at least expected it to work. It was "6 Inch LCD Digital Caliper with Extra Battery and Case $11.74" from Amazon and looks like the same one Harbor freight sells. I'll be returning it. I close the calip...

Re: Edge's Rostock MAX V2 build
Ordered the connectors (plus extras for practice and other projects) and a nice crimper. I was going to try to get the stuff from digikey since it is a lot cheaper but the choices for the terminals for the housings was confusing me. I just went ahead with ordering from hansens. 1x4 .1in Plastic Latc...

Hi Jesse. I'd suggest a different approach. Buy it, get the experience of knowing how these things work, then sell it on craigslist or ebay (even if for a slight loss). save that cash to buy a newer model in a couple years. Your experience will help you catch up quickly to the changes and help you k...

Good idea.
I suppose this could potentially cause static charge which may result in dust being attracted (or repelled) to it. Who knows.

I can confirm that when I ordered mine on Saturday at MRRF I was told it would come with a spool of ABS.
