Re: Thermoresitor advice
Make absolutely sure the leads are not shorting somewhere. Are you using tubing for each of the leads from the thermistor? the RTK Silicone just helps transfer heat, resulting in a more accurate temperature reading. If the leads touch the extruder body, not only could they short (if not within tubin...

I made a Ustream account and found a crappy old webcam. I can watch my printer work by watching UStream at work, if I need to cancel the job (hasn't happened yet) I can remote in and do so.

Sorry, I know nothing of robotics aside from what it takes to assemble a Rostock. As such, I don't understand your question. I hope I'm not out of line by just saying I am really wowed by your machine! That's one big ass delta! Looks awesome!

Re: Rostock issue with Homing and hitting the end stops
To me it sounds like your end stops are getting false signals, where it thinks the end stop is being activated, while it actually isn't. I'd check your endstop wiring, and make sure they aren't inducing signals from your stepper motors. Make sure the wires are not running parallel to each other. Sor...

Re: Using retract to change filament
Do you experience resistance when you depress the red lever? When I change filament, most times the end of the filament is a bit thicker than the rest of the filament, just because it partially melted in the hotend. I just do a quick tug and it pops out. I do notice that sometimes it takes quite a b...

Re: Hi from Norway!
Don't worry, when it comes down to it, its not hard to do the bed last! I have replaced my bed 3 times since I completed my build. Just take gene up on the tape tip, tape those metal threaded parts that you hammer into the underside of the top part of the base. I had one fall out when I installed th...

Re: Sd card, can see file, print will not start
I second RAMTechRob, sometimes my bed can't get to the temp, going into the Temp settings through the LCD and turning down the temp setting to the current temp and setting it back up to the original target gets the print to start. (This is after I preheat the bed and hotend. Sometimes it just can't ...

Re: Home Towers works, then SLAMS into bed.
Yes, I've calibrated it. This is after I've already done a print. I went to check my Z-zero and it was correct, hit home, then it goes to the top, sits there for a second, then drops like a lead weight and slams into the print bed. Then I have to hit the power switch on the printer to get the hot en...

Re: I am now the owner of 3 Rostocks!
Thanks Eric, I haven't tripped a breaker yet. I did have my UPS yell at me though when I tried to plug more than one printer into it. I should move the printers around the house so they're not all on one breaker. A tripped breaker when I'm not in the room paying attention would really be unfortunate...

photo 4.jpg I built one rostock, took me 40 hours as I had never touched a soldering iron or built anything in my life. I fell in love with it, and now I have 3! I built the 2nd and 3rd printer simultaneously in only 24 hours. (it helps a lot when you don't need to keep looking at gene's manual ove...

Re: ABS Cooling Crack Repair
I tried this with an ABS print that had 4mm thick shell, (we'll be hammering on it, it needs to be STRONG) and the cracks did disappear! For a minute. When the part cooled, they came back. We then clamped it between two boards and heated it again, this also worked temporarily. We heated the part, cr...

Home Towers works, then SLAMS into bed.
So I have a Rostock V2 that when I hit home towers on the LCD, it obliges, and the 3 cheapskates go to the end-stops. It waits a second, making you think "Oh, good. Everything's fine." Then it almost full-speed drops to the build plate and slams the hot end into the glass plate. :o I can o...

Re: Resume from a Power Outage?
Also, if printing ABS, your bed may have time to cool during the outage and your part will pop off the build plate, PLA probably wouldn't have this issue? I have had it happen with ABS. Happened two weeks ago and it is the reason I bought myself a UPS.

Re: Resume from a Power Outage?
I use a UPS for the printer only and not for the computer. I print from SD cards and use the computer w/ Repetier to monitor temps & adjust print speed mid-print. I have confirmed that losing power to the computer while printing from SD (even with Repetier connected to the printer) does not affe...

Re: moving cheapskate axles
I had this issue. I fixed it with some Teflon DRY powder spray (PTFE lubricant spray). I bought the PTFE Blaster from Home depot for ~$4.50 and it did the trick! Did it for all 6 axles. I just took the axles and U joints outside and put them on some old newspaper. Sprayed them all and let them dry a...

Re: Secondary layers becoming stringy problem
To do that, just save the gcode output from those stand-alone slicers, then in Repetier hit the big 'Load' button. That will allow you to bring in the gcode from alternative stand-alone slicing programs.

I have lost hope and just put layers of tape down on my bed where the hotend rises to artificially raise the build plate to the hotend. Seems to work, but a pain to align.

Re: Tower mounts do not have limit screws
The red oval indicates where the screw goes. It's different in that its the only part on the entire machine where a screw goes into a non-round hole. I found it easier to set the screw into the vertical support by pushing the small phillips screwdriver into the hole where the screw goes and turning ...

Quite frustrating when we bought the printer based on its build area and we cannot print to the build area extents!!

I just use a glass borosilicate flask on a hot plate outside. Re: Early Kit, Late Build
When did they pull the v3? Somewhere between mid-late April and mid May. I recieved a Rostock kit around April 18 and it had a Rev3 Onyx. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get that bed up to temperature. SeeMe sent me a Rev2 Onyx and I hit my target temp of 100C in 4.5 minutes. Two more Rostock ki...
