Tabaccy patch for sure.

By far the best I have tried or looked at. The adjustment wrench really amps up the cool factor also.

Re: Simplify3D setting the Bed Height

IF I understand your question correctly S3D doesn't actually zero out the physical printer. It defines tool paths starting from Z zero which should be the top surface of the plate. Physical Z zero on the printer is set manually. Using the manual controls on the printer LCD, go to the Advanced screen...

Re: Jason from Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I want to print one for my license plate holder! Is there an STL floating around? I made it up, Cedar Rapids is the speedcam capitol of the world. They gross a few million dollars per year in unconstitutional speed traps. Imagine how much more they can make if they pass a law that everyone must wea...

Re: Layer Shifting

Brian, I tried this also during my layer shift craziness, this is also one of my gotos for strange .stl behaviors that falls under the broad heading "It Couldn't Hurt". In my case it also didn't help with the shift. My shift was always in the Cartesian Y- direction only and always negitive...

Re: Rostock Max V2 with a few minor mods

I have installed DodgeDerek's Belt Tensioners on my RMv2 and these are a really nice piece of work.

Sure, positive, secure AND the install tool works flawlessly! I was using V27's before and while they worked well, I needed two allen wrenches and three hands to adjust them.

Hats off!!

Is this happening on a file that you have printed before?

Re: Printing question

I've bought S3d twice. The first time I sent it back for a refund. When v3 came out I bought it again. It is much better than it was before but it still has issues that prevent me from using it all the time. I still use KISS for 95% of the stuff I do. I haven't been able to use it for my newest dua...

Re: Layer Shifting

Now I have an unexplained layer shifting problem! All was well until today when I attempted to print this QR extruder mount. I let the print finish so I might learn what was going on. Checked everything and started another print. Got exactly the same shift at exactly the same layer. In my case, the...

Re: Printing question

Gary, what slicer are you using for those settings? S3D I have really grown to like it. Key points are the ability to run multiple processes and support manipulation. You could literally run a different settings for each layer. Support can be modified, added or subtracted manually in the setup. Ton...

Re: Printing question

Boogers are formed at end point retractions. Commonly people try to manipulate the retraction and retraction rate to control, this especially if there is stringing associated with the move. But in some cases the problem has already occurred by the time the retraction has been applied. This is result...

There is a lot of traffic on this printer in RCHobbies.

Nicest thing to say is that these appear to be ongoing projects.

Re: Print pulls chunks out of glass plate

Don't be intimidated by the PEI install. I broke a glass plate a couple of weeks ago forcing me to go to my spare. Both were PEI coated. I ordered in replacement glass, tape and PEI to put a spare back on the shelf and decided to set it back up earlier in the week. The total install took about 20 mi...

Re: Windshadow's Rostock Max V2 build

The Bed at 200 is a major problem. That allow the bed to only run at `80% max power and it is power challenged anyway. Never get to 100C. the "Bed PID Drive Max" and "Bed PID Max Value" should both be 255. Leave the hot end alone, 200 is fine for it. The number 0-255 is a percent...

M303 P1 S100

Where "S" is the bed calibration target temp. Could just as easily be 60 or 80. If you have trouble with the AutoTune timing out before it reaches target, move the target down and make the PID corrections of the lowered target and then work your way back up.

Weeeeelll almost. I modified Jim's .stl by filling in the vee groove and using the holes he had placed there to locate the bosses for the ball arms. These were all printed in ABS and the bosses Acetone bonded in place. I then inserted 3mm heat set brass inserts into the bosses to attach the arms. Ev...

Re: Windshadow's Rostock Max V2 build

Check to see if your "Bed PID Drive Max" is set to 255. This is towards the end of the EEPROM Configuration. If the bed in significantly undertemp, the PWM output to the bed should be in WAO Mode and the LED should be on constantly. I use Repetier-Host to control the printer and in manual ...

Re: BondTech QR Extruder Tip #1 - Calibration

Got around to finishing a mount and getting the BondTec Extruder mounted and I must say I am impressed.

Print smoothness is greatly improved and I guess I don't really understand why unless the non-geared extruder speeds are a lot less stable than I thought.

Re: Effector Platform - Fan Duct Combo

I think that Jim's Ducted Effector will do what you want quite well. I have been running the printed unit for about month now and I am quite pleased with the compactness and the uniformity of the cooling ducts. I run cooling on all PLA parts and any ABS parts that have fine details or thin sections....

Re: Windshadow's Rostock Max V2 build

I was going to ask about your first layer. Hard to see but there looks to be a radius on the bottom edge. Usually on successful prints you should see a sharp square corner or a bit of an elephant's foot. In the absence of one of these, you likely too high in your first pass. The first layer should l...
