Re: What to avoid

Maybe this is overkill but I am planning on building an Arduino-based backup temperature controller for the extruder. I plan to add another thermistor to the extruder and the arduino will drive a few 7 segment LED displays to show current temperature and a 'max cutoff temperature' where it will ope...

Re: He's just this guy. You know?

I just ordered 6 NEMA17 drivers for myself. If you would like to have one, I'll send it your way for like $7+$2 shipping What type of driver is that and where did you get them? I am curious cause I could use a few more for another project. Sorry, I meant NEMA17 Stepper Motors. I messaged you where ...

I'm makin' steps! I got Teacup RepRap firmware compiled and running on an Arduino. I got Pronterface talking to Teacup. I got 3 steppers wired up to Pololu drivers, and the drivers wired to the Arduino. Also got Slic3r talking to Pronterface. Today I got it all playing together and made the motors ...

Heh, I got an idea:

1. make him charge his friends for prints.

2. Split the profit with your son.

4. buy new stuff

You connect the parallel port from your computer to the 3-axis board with the included parallel port cable. the 3-axis board is the larger circuit board that all the motors connect to.. motors connect to one side of the board, the parallel port is on the other. Companies sell millions of copies of their software and freak out over one leak , look a apple ,they are one of the best (if not the best) electronics companies in the world and you don't need any serial for their operating systems. They are still going strong . Mach3 is a commercial product (http:...

No, you dont know. I'm 16 I'm not spend extra money on software Honestly, I happen to be 16 as well and I (even though I am not going the mach 3 route) would spend money on software that is required for the operation of the product. If you can not afford the software, it is not yours to have. I act...

Re: Can somebody please take a picture of the extruder?

There aren't connectors coming off of the H-1's extruder when you get it (if you purchased a kit). I got the kit and I assembled the extruder myself and added my own connectors (some crimp connectors). Why are you concerned with connectors to the printrboard? Those are just 4 pin Molex connector (p...

Re: Hey everyone

Hey Tom, If I were in your position, I would purchase the basic kit as Extrude3D said ($150), that will be more then plenty for a 3-4 weeks of assembly. Then add to it motors, controller, filament, etc... If you want to do it on the cheap, I have had friends salvage parts (motors) from printers or ...
