Hello, A little bit of arc welder technology added to this device, and it could print in any metal you can weld. I've just thought of this but, there are wire fed arc welders. The hot plate, would be a thing of plastic but, a graphite plate, would be the work surface with the addition of a thin foil...

Page 132, of Assembly Manual is wrong.
Hello, Okay, I've been kept out of the shop for a few weeks due to excessive heat. But, I followed the instructions but, went by the pictures. The 18 gauge wire, is the one axis that has only four wires in it, and the picture shows the 18 gauge wire going to the stepping motor. It doesn't that much ...

Re: Getting the Top on Flipped over...
You people are right. I figured the filament wrapped around the stepping motor gear, then was pinched by the bearing for traction. It's doable, and I think it may have been designed that way then just went straight. If that path curled the filament, it would have jammed in the boden tube.

IMG_20140627_010316_848.jpg Hello, If you get all the way to the point, you've run your wires through the extrusions, don't panic if you find out the top plate is flipped over. I almost wish that they'd laser etc. top side, or bottom, if it's hidden. I've got all of assembly work done and the belts...

Hello, I noticed most of the laser systems that are used in printing metal parts use noble gases. Water, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, and Carbon Monoxide, are all reactive gases. Water and oxygen are the worst but, without actually buying large quantities of noble gases, it's pointless to worry...

Re: Cheap Skates, first time adjustments!!
I pressed mine in, and didn't use tape. But, the T-nuts were not flush to the melamine, and nowhere does it mention that they should be flush, and the reason for making sure that they are flush, is all about the first time you adjust the Cheap Skates because, if they are touching the extrusions, the...

Cheap Skates, first time adjustments!!
Hello, Okay, if you don't tap down on the T Nuts, or use a nut and washer to set them into the melamine, they will interfere with your first bearing adjustments, and as soon you get brakes on the belt, you'll discover allot of play in the Cheap Skates in the extruded track. Make sure you tighten dow...

Hello, I'll show you a trick with two forceps and a rubber band, that you'll all love when it comes to these belts. Look, it's as good as having three hands. And somewhere after that, how to use chopsticks, a couple of rubber bands and a fishing weight, to adjust the tension of your belts. The bambo...

Re: The Cheap Skates.
The cheap skates consist of two pieces of melamine. In the construction guide, they want you to have eye's look same direction as the logo on the web page. Okay, you can assemble the universal joints but, wind up where having the eyes look desired direction results in the misalignment of the screws....

Hello, I think you should get all of the six pieces for the sake of alignment, when it comes to the large melamine parts. Here's why, at first glance, all four of those holes can look parallel, pending on the angles you're holding pieces with. They are not parallel. So, the quick fix, is not taking ...

Hello, I didn't know this until I tried. Okay, look out, the holes on the cheap skates are not even spaced. I know Rostock, and the assembly manual want you have the eyes looking one direction. But, after you've mounted the Universal Joints, you won't want to disassemble it to just have eyes looking...

Hello, Went to AdaFruit, and bought some of their 5 mm x 5 mm heat sinks, and they turned out to be 0.5 inches. But, the profile, and the layout of the board, make's em' usable. Hello, I like it when I post bad ideas because, I learn so much. I keep sending messages to support@seemecnc.com, and those are much more detailed. True Color 3D Printer. That would make blow up dolls, completely different. For one, they'd work with dynamite instead of air, and when you blew em' up, you'd see organs. And anything you do to fix them, is still only plastic surgery. True Color Ninja Flex, and you could do you're own alien autopsy ...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk
Wish I had a gauss meter... The Rostock hot bead, is a flat spiral. So, without any magnets at all, the hot bed produces a very even magnetic field. Bringing any magnets near it would defeat the potential of leveling anything. But, I had an idea for a special kind of ink, and I call it cartoon whit...

Re: Look at mine! It's not finished.
I'm waiting for lacing and connectors, as well as crimp on pins, male and female. I got way too many lines, of too many wires, and these guys are only using 12 volts. The ATX form includes 2.5 volts, 5 volts, and a split supply for 12 volts. I know, that if they just wrote to the power supply manufa...

Re: Look at mine! It's not finished.
Are you planning on printing human organs with your Rostock? Now that would be cool. No, I would give advice. Organs, are actually multicellular, and not just one cell type. You heart includes tendons, nerves, and operating correctly, is connected to vegus nerve. Pinched nerves can trigger the immu...

Re: Auto Level - Auto Calibration Talk
Neodymium magnets will not give you an even magnetic field. A flat spiral coil the same diameter as the hot bed will. From what I can see, the heating coil is a flat spiral, no need for any magnets, they have curved fields. I have a Gauss meter, I tell you what, when I finally finish building it, an...

Hello, I took out some extra time to paint the edges of the melamine, with high temperature paint, that's normally used on charcoal grills, or wood burning stoves. It's Rustoleum's, and it stays tacky until it's exposed to a high heat as well, or takes forever to dry. After two weeks, I stopped wait...

Installing the resistors to the hot end.
Hello, I found that bending the leads on the heating resistors at about 10 to 15 degrees, the same distance from the body, allows you a better perspective of where the center of the body of the resistor is, once it's covered in RTV. You do want it centered in the hole it is too be mounted in. Just g...
