Re: Mini height sensor
Auto-level in a delta is USELESS. The thing you're after is auto- calibration and that's basically not possible on Arduino based controllers. 626 has done some excellent work on the Smoothieboard firmware (which is turning out to be pretty low-quality hardware.. :( ) and the stand-alone system that...

Re: Kraken water cooling setup...
I forgot about this and thought a post might help others who want to use water cooled hot ends like the Kraken. Basically, I use a small plastic container mounted on the side of the Rostock for the water reservoir. An aluminum rod 10" high is mounted next to it for the water line support. This...

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi
It would cost you $185 to do it with the Smoothie 5X. 1 TB6560 stepper driver is like 7 dollars, you just have to use the gpio pin outs available on the Smoothieboard.Nylocke wrote:I think the alligator is smoothie based, but it's $400 for the board+expansion to run 4+ :/

Re: Heuristic (AI) calibration for delta printers on Smoothi
This page: http://www.tridprinting.com/Electronics/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Scroll down to the FSR section, there is a control board there. It works very well if you have a good mount. My mount I've done for the Kossel is a bit poor as of now, I have to make some mo...

Re: Dual Nozzles: Small for detailed shells, large for infil
How would you make sure that your infill layers would not conflict with the physical nozzle nearby? If its a thin wall and you have a .1 layer height, and the other say .6,the nozzle will probably hit it and fail the print. If anything just use the smaller nozzle for top layer finish for better xy r...

Stringing is a huge issue, so if you figure out how to get around that, that would be great!

Taking revolving snapshots automatically with octoprint
Hello everyone! I am interested in using autodesk 123D catch to scan some things and I thought why not use a HD webcam in conjunction with my 3d printer to try and do it while using octoprint? So my question is it possible to take screenshots with Octoprint and a usb webcam? I've seen timelapses and...

Re: PEI print bed surface experiments
Hairspray on glass works pretty well, but PEI gives a better surface finish and releases its grip on the part once it cools down. I also noticed recently that PEI + glue stick holds nylon down a lot better than glass and glue stick. Not as good as a heated chamber, but it's a noticeable improvement...

Re: PEI print bed surface experiments
I currently use hairspray and its amazing, but if I can move to something where I don't have to apply anything to the bed, I'm inclined to try it out

Re: E3D has released new hotends!
Ive seen it referred to as an Upsilon, and thats how it works. If your hotend design is good and you have a good extruder design they work quite nice from what I can tell. I'm a bit skeptical of the cyclops design as well. Not exactly sure of the filament path inside the heater block, but from what...

Re: PEI print bed surface experiments
Wait... I am confused. Is glass necessary?
as in heater -> Alum. plate -> 3M 468MP strips -> PEI
or Heater -> alum. plate -> glass -> PEI
for printing something like ABS?

Re: Alternative Heated Enclosure for Rostock MAX
I've been working on a big delta printer with a heated chamber too. These are a few things I've noted; -Don't use acrylic, use polycarbonate as the enclosure sheet. -Don't make any internal parts out of ABS, PLA, or other low temperature plastics. - Don't use neodymium magnets for ball arms. They s...

Re: L-Cheapo Laser
That's awesome! I haven't learned how to do photo/picture engraving yet (where one burns a fill rather than a stroke/outline). Can you teach us how you are doing it? My delta is running linuxCNC so its a bit different compared to your reprap. I would image that you could just use a fill instead of ...
