Re: EZstruder

I am currently using a direct drive extruder and IMO it's much nicer for retracts, but IMO half the problem tuning retracts on the rostock is the Hotend. Get a jhead or similar and you'll find the difficulty tuning to be night and day difference. Do you have any idea or guess why the Seemecnc hoten...

Re: EZstruder

I just ordered one and would like to mount it on my newly acquired ORD Bot. Anyone seen any STEP files or other mechanical drawings so I can plot my mounting strategy? I expect the mounting equipment will not be available for the ORD Bot, but it can't be that hard to make it work. The flexibility of...

Re: Matt Kraemer Review on YouTube

I'm very happy that I didn't let Mr. Kraemer's video review sway me in trying this kit out. I appreciate that. Many folks that want a 3d printer are artists with absolutely no mechanical skills whatsoever. I would not recommend it for them. That's a helpful distinction. I think I'm rather mechanica...

Re: Matt Kraemer Review on YouTube

With your time frame, I would suggest you look at something else. Perhaps a Solidoodle or Maker bot prebuilt machine. You have to decide what is important to you and maybe your budget is a bit on the small side for the Maker Bot Thanks for the suggestions on what else to look at. I'm internally at ...

Re: Matt Kraemer Review on YouTube

foshon, thanks for your detailed response to my questions. I appreciate it. Would it be fair to say the rostockMax is simpler to build, but harder to calibrate?

Gotta say, the community here makes this printer more attractive even as you're suggesting it may not be a good fit for my first go.

Re: Matt Kraemer Review on YouTube

There is a thread somewhere with various responses to the video. I searched on the guys name and came up with nothing. Anyone have suggestions on what to search who saw it? This caught my eye in your post I don't expect to be able to get 4 hours in a row to do this There is no way you will build an...

Matt Kraemer Review on YouTube

Is there a response to the videos on YouTube by Matt Kraemer ? I saw Steve left a comment, but I guess I'm looking for more specific responses to his critiques. Here are some that stuck in my mind. Should I expect to have to sand the lasercut parts? Are the parts he assert are missing expected? Is t...

Re: Ceiling Mount

Yeah, I'm wishing I had 20' ceilings and 17' lengths of that aluminum extrusion. The 15' high prints would be pretty good for geek cred I should think. With the rostock delta print style, bracing along that length wouldn't be as critical as in other styles right?

Re: Ceiling Mount

:-) Yeah, thought of printing upside down, but then I'd need to install a ladder also.

Re: Mounting a rotary tool

Yeah, I understand depth really would be limited, but something like cutting out layers of foam board to assemble those layers into something else could be done. Or one of those dinosaur puzzles like this but smaller. [img]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E7J2zUDNOTk/Th3Zk2Eh-mI/AAAAAAAAAz0/3aQogPw06qU/s16...

Ceiling Mount

I'm probably thinking even more crazy, but how difficult would it be to mount this on the ceiling for use in a tight office environment? With some lengthening of the axis, it could be made very convenient and not take up desk space. The idea of that length makes me want to try crazy things like a la...

Mounting a rotary tool

So, there is a good bit of space in the center. Could the delta handle a rotary tool in there to do engraving and minor cutting in soft material if a mount was designed to replace the extruder? I'm sure weight would be an issue, but I don't how much. Would the belts stretch before the arms would war...
