Re: DIY heated vacuum dryer
I let it sit for a couple hours and it's 32C inside. At that temp, the vapor pressure of water is 4800 Pascal, and my pump goes down to 10 Pascal.

DIY heated vacuum dryer
Here's a sneak peek at my DIY heated vacuum dryer. I still have to run some more tests but so far the results are promising! I have about $75 into it so far. I already had the vacuum pump for recharging air conditioning. [img]https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-k8NFC7whu58/VHurCUjohsI/AAAAAAAAAfI/O0q...

Re: Raspberry Pi on Rostock MAX
I can't agree with Gene more emphatically on this point. We in the OSS supporting realm need to shut down these two faced M-th-- F---ers as quick as possible. Some strong feelings I guess. This is the way I see it. Say every day on your walk to school there is a bowl with candy in it when you...

Re: Raspberry Pi on Rostock MAX
If you're going to use OctoPrint, do not use it on a Pi, it's too slow and will cause blobbing if your STL has a lot of facets. Best to use a BeagleBoneBlack at least. I know everyone loves to pile on, but I still don't understand geneb's position on the whole Repetier-Server thing. Okay, I get the ...

The fans need 12V for sure. The motors and hotend are debatable.

Re: Loctite trouble
A heat approach would be to use a soldering iron.
A chemical one would be to try methylene chloride, aka "Aircraft paint remover". It's strong stuff, use gloves and apply sparingly.
If you hit the shaft too hard it will damage the bearings.

Re: Hotend Fail in the middle of Calibration! :(
Here is my E3D v6 using the SeeMeCNC mount. It works just fine. You'll need to get some longer stand-offs and use a different layer fan shroud.

Re: E3D has released new hotends!
The Upsilon is a great idea, but it didn't work for me. It was pretty unreliable because of the strings of the retracted filament causing jams. Here is a printer with dual feed / mixing available now: http://3dprinter4u.com/builder-dual-feed-3d-printer/" onclick="window.open(this.href);ret...

Re: EZExtruder issues
Are you sure it's 70C? Most people can't stand to touch anything above 50C. As far as the EZStruder's abilities, I find I can do 12mm^3/s filament volume with a 0.4mm nozzle. This translates to 100mm/s print speed at 0.3mm layers. Beyond that it misses steps and/or grinds the filament. So in your ca...

Re: Tall prints going banana
I'd say check the extrusions for straightness first. The second thing is to look for anything with a mechanical period that could be causing your problem. For example the cheapskate wheels have a circumference of 2.9".
If you go even higher does the curve repeat?

Re: RAMBo Motor Driver Heatsink Upgrade
The metric here is thermal resistance. A heat sink on top will have to conduct through the plastic of the package. A heat sink on the bottom will conduct through the thermal pad, through the solder, through the copper vias, and finally through the solder mask. While this seems like a more torturous ...

Those chips can certainly be helped with additional cooling. They are the "QFN" type package like these: You see the large pad in the center? That's the part attached to the silicon die inside, and that's...

How large was your old nozzle? A slight decrease in size has a large effect on back pressure.

Re: Weird .92 homing behavior?
I've been running 0.92 for a while now, and while I see other issues I see nothing like what you see. I don't have any extruder offset so it's possible that the offsetting move has too high acceleration/velocity?

So how has it been working? I've been thinking of getting a dryer myself. How long do you soak for and at what temperature? How long do you need to keep it at vacuum?

Re: Mike's Birch V2
No prob. I assume your offsets for the Kraken are all from the center of the 4? There are separate offsets for the "probe" which your this case will be whatever nozzle is the lowest. But I don't think extruder offsets will play into it, it's the probe offsets. I set my probe offsets to zer...

Re: Mike's Birch V2
I did not "calibrate" the end stop steps. I adjusted the endstop screws using the bed, and left the software endstop correction zero. Basically when doing a "G32" it will show you each probe point Z height. I adjusted the endstop screws until they were all as close as I could get...

Re: Poor man's SSR, heated bed 24V upgrade
I was looking at the wires from your burnt up connector, I assume those are the ones that still go to the bed. Those should be much larger, but they are probably reducing the overall current because of their resistance. Ok, with a fan the heat sink C/W will be much less (forced convection). But if t...

Re: Poor man's SSR, heated bed 24V upgrade
That heat sink must get super hot. At about 20C/W and 25A it will be almost 200C, well beyond the rating of the MOSFET. I don't know what kind of connector that is but it probably can't do those currents either. With those dinky wires it's probably not 25A yet but if your supply can do it, it will b...
