Prints are a little bit small

I've had my V2 for a couple years now, and so far havent printed many things that had to fit together or fit with something else. But I've being printing exactly that lately and found that even my PLA and PETG prints, are coming out small by more than a few millimeters in some cases. I printed this ...

Looking to extend the shut off timer past 20 minutes

I added and aluminum spreader to my bed, and so now it takes much longer to heat the bed. often times when i set the bed to 90c or more, it shuts off the heating before it even gets 75% there. Where in the firmware can i extend this timer? I've been looking through the files in arduino but I haven f...

Trick Laser Aluminum spreader having the opposite effect?

So it just came in the mail yesterday - pulled off the glass and cleaned it, put the heat spreader on the HBP and clamped the it down with the glass on top. To my utter surprise it's actually taking MORE time to heat up..... With a goal of 100c, it's taken about 10min to go from 80c to 85c. I live i...

Powering Raspberry Pi 2 with existing modular Power supply?

So this is seemingly more of an electrical question, but I'm just curious if anyone's had some success. I have a corsair cx600m inside my Rostock max V2, can i power a Raspberry Pi 2 for AstroPrint/OctoPrint with the PSU? Ideally it'd be great to wire up a female usb port so i could power the Pi via...

Re: First thought humidity, now i'm thinking nozzle issue.

So turns out it was my nozzle. I had a 14 hour glow in the dark PLA print, and it totally eroded and widened my nozzle!! This was definitely not made clear when i purchased this filament!!! Looks like i'll be picking up some hardened nozzles!!

Re: First thought humidity, now i'm thinking nozzle issue.

Might just be humidity - but its possible that its just too hot? What thermistor do you have installed and is it properly set up in the firmware? I never actually tested mine against a calibrated thermocouple but going from the stock E3D thermistor to a screw in one off ebay I had to drop my setpoi...

First thought humidity, now i'm thinking nozzle issue.

So to preface, I made a 14 hour print with some PLA yesterday and it came out wonderfully. I go today to make another copy with the same PLA, and now the filament is coming out super clumpy, and with CONSISTENT air "pops" every couple seconds leaving space in my print. The first thing i tr...

Why is Ninjaflex not recommended for boden like the Rostock?

I've heard and read that Semiflex is the way to go for Boden setups, which is fine by me, but I'm curious as to what the difference is that makes Ninjaflex generally not recommended. Thanks!!

Max V2 Cura Repetier host settings

So I've been using Slic3r for a few months now, and have seen a few times that Cura often produces better slicing and prints. I downloaded the Cura standalone, but i wont lie, it was pretty daunting. I like that it slices in "Real Time", but the print settings are laid out/worded so differ...

Octoprint disconnecting in consistently with certain prints

I've got a Rostock Max V2, and i've had octoprint set up for a couple weeks now without issue. Now suddenly, about every other model/gcode file, octoprint will disconnect and stop my print at the exact same place in the print, usually at the beginning, but always in the same place no matter how many...

Re: Whats my voltage limit for tapping into peek and layer f

I do believe the peek and layer fans are 12V. So you would not have any problems on that frontier. However you should check how many amps are drawn by your 70mm fan and make sure that the rambo is capable of providint sufficient current for the new and existing fan together. Awesome, thanks. this f...

Whats my voltage limit for tapping into peek and layer fans?

So I decided that my extruder motor needs a fan, but that's another issue all in itself. Long PLA prints usually result in softened plastic and jamming, even after changing the MOTOR_CURRENT values that's recommended for the Kysan Motors. Anywho, I found a slick looking 70mm fan that I want to desig...

Guide to Retraction calibration?

Hey all, after some searching around here I was unable to find any obvious guides to calibrating retraction. I've seen all kinds of models for retraction testing, but I'm noob enough not to really know the process for the Max v2. Any links or tips would be appreciated!!!

There are two other fuses besides the one that looks like a Car fuse. They are small fuses that are in small sockets. One of them is blown, probably F3. See these links for fuse locations and part numbers. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5775" onclick="window.open(this....

Best way to identify a short?

I messed up big time tonight guys. Before I go into it, please be gentle. I have an E3d V6, and someone in my house who will remain nameless (me) decided to clean ...

Just finished an Octoprint Mount Kit for the Rosotck Max V2

This is a 3 piece kit that I customized from some already existing designs. It's a Rostock Max V2 Side Panel with mounting holes for a Raspberry Pie B+ Case with matching mounting holes. The RasPi case was modified so that there is cable management for the power cable, so all cables come together ni...

Best way to fix a calibration issue between axes

I've been pulling my hair out this morning, trying to print with ABS. The perimeter of the print always comes loose from the bed right between the Z and Y Axes. I checked my calibration Macros and all 4 points were right on target. So I went to 0 height and manually moved the hotend little by little...

strange & sudden calibration issue printing PLA w/ overhangs

So i designed a model with a globe-type shape, and had a successful PLA print. Hooray! Printed at 215c with a 60c bed, 0.2 layer height, no layer fan (yes, I'm waiting on a new one in the mail, I know this is a must). It printed a little messy going up the sphere shape, but overall turned out very w...

Kaysan Extruder motor still melts PLA after firmware adjust

I couldnt explain fully in the title: Since I built my kit during thanksgiving, I've mainly printed ABS, and they've been great prints. I just started with PLA, and for my first semi-successful print, about 1 hour in, the extruder stepper motor got so hot that it melted/softened the PLA and it jamme...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Suddenly can't print past first layer

Yeah, that's pretty much all I meant to verify - that the fan turns on and is seated well. I dunno what else to suggest. There's another thread going on where people seem to think that their extruder is getting so hot that it softens the filament too much to push it - maybe you're in that same boat...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Suddenly can't print past first layer

Did you reassemble the hotend properly? I just put together my own e3d, and the instructions say to make sure to do the final tighten while it's hot. Did you do that? Also you should check the PEEK fan (I know e3d has no PEEK but I don't know what else to call it). I think that e3d's tend to jam if...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Suddenly can't print past first layer

Could be picking up some dirt. On my other printer I've started poking the filament through a piece of soft foam before it goes into the extruder. That collects noticeable dust on any spool that's been open for any time at all. Don't re-use the hole in the foam, just cut that piece off and use a fr...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Suddenly can't print past first layer

Hmmm... and the extruder stepper motor continues to work? Is it grinding a notch into the filament? yes the extuder stepper motor continues and it does grind a notch into the filament, I keep having to cut pieces of the filament past the notch and try again. So it's obviously blocked/clogging some ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Suddenly can't print past first layer

So if you leave it alone, even after it has failed, what's the failure scenario? Is it that the extruder stepper stops moving? Does the hotend stop moving, or does it continue trying to print? Does the whole printer shut down? More detail please. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough; It will continue to ...
