If you're using simplify3d, set the Extrusion width to Manual with the value of your nozzle diameter.

You might want to print a few hollow cubes to measure and adjust your extrusion values. Appears to be under extruding, like Eaglezsoar said.

Re: Rostock MAX v3...

I tried attaching a photo, but apparently that doesn't work here. When you upload your image as an attachment, click the "Place inline" button. If you don't get that option then the image might be to large. You can use Flickr or Photobucket to link the image directly using the "Img&q...

Re: Prometheus V2 Possible PLA Printing Tip

Wonder if your have debris in the nozzle. I can pull the filament completely out and shove it back in without jamming. Even the new Prometheus System relies on pulling the filament like 30-40mm to switch extruders(still uses the v2 hotend). For the heck of it, heat to your printing temp and pull the...

Re: Extruder motor does'nt start

Under the FFF settings, which "Extruder Toolhead Index" do you have selected? I believe default is Tool 0, but you can try the others to make sure. If you can move the extruder through the S3D control panel, then just make sure it matches the "Active Toolhead" listed on that scre...

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

It depends on the controller you end up going with. The SparkFun Stepoko & Carbide 3D use GRBL, although I think Mach has a plugin for that.

I use http://chilipeppr.com/grbl for the Shapeoko 3.

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

Thanks for the input! I'm still a bit torn.. I really like what the Shapeoko offers but I'm wondering why it doesn't come with a probe? Having worked on a larger machine, this is the only way I've ever found Z-zero. How do you do this with no probe? The controller has the probe connection built in ...

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

I'm biased towards the shapeoko 3 as I have one. It will cut anything in your listed requirements plus acrylic/aluminium with the correct speeds/feeds/tooling. I'm sure that goes for both hobbyist machines. I'm looking to upgrade it to the XXL, so if you think you'd want a bigger machine; I would ju...

I've never had a problem but that's not to say it's the best practice either. I couldn't imagine fitting a meanwell 750w and a computer power supply in the frame.

Re: Yet another Metal Max!

one thing to note on the 24v power: cooling fans. Be sure those are 24v. I think most of us that use a 24v supply, run it with a dc/dc converter for the 12v devices. I personally only use the 24v for the heated bed. Everything else is stepped down to 12v. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com...
