Re: aluminum bed plate and 24v PSU

This wasn't made specifically for any 3D printer but this is what I use and it works well: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271575080432?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I put it between the Onyx and the glass. It really h...

Re: V2 Enclosure

I had a pretty cool idea the other day - what if instead of this enclosure being 6 flat panels, what if it was round?! Polycarb has a decent amount of flex, right? I bet we could bend it into a circular enough shape to fit around the printer. And that would make installing and removing the polycarb...

Re: Taulman 910 Nylon test with $8K on the line!

I love these kind of stories. It inspires the rest of us to think of useful jobs for our MAX that will make life better for us - in the way this prototype did for you. In fact, perhaps you can sell these to other photographers. You're kind of like BASF. You don't invent the things, you just make the...

Re: MAX v1 Firmware and PEEK fan question

Did you verify with a meter that the correct wires are going to the correct fans? There was recently someone on the forum who inadvertently swapped the black (negative) wires of the two fans causing a similar issue.

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?

First question, did you heat up the hot end before trying to move the extruder motor? If it was cold, the extruder won't move.

second, if the hot end was hot, the check the fuses. You probably blew one accidently.

Ordered my Rostock V2 on Saturday, now the waiting begins. I look forward to the build and all the help you all can give me along the way. Any thing I need to make with my current ROBO 3D R1 that will help me along the way? Thanks in advance! Whereabouts in California are you located? I'm in SoCal....

Re: Layered Fabric 3D Printer (Disney)

I saw this on the news this morning. Interesting concept. Clearly even fabric printers have layer adhesion issues - you'll notice that when they first demonstrate how the rabbit is flexible, the top head layer comes loose and she quickly presses her finger on it to stick it back down as she's flexin...

Real-world reviews are the best kind. Might be a good reason to upgrade to the Prometheus v2 hotend that has been sitting in the wings.

Re: PEEK Fan not running as advertised?

From the best of my recollection, the fan control in MatterControl is for the Layer Fan, not the Peek fan. If you were able to control it with that slider, then you have the Peak fan wired to the wrong pair of wires (the layer fan) and that would explain why it doesn't turn on when you turn on the h...

Great idea! Where do you find foamcore sheets large enough?

I noticed your heat bed is propped up. What is the reason for that?

Re: Broke down and bought a license...

I too have recently paid for a S3D license. I really liked MatterControl but it would grind to a halt when it came to slicing complex models. S3D seems to handle those same models with ease, slicing them in just a few seconds. Prints come out nicely. I'm starting with version 2.2.2 of S3D and, so fa...

Re: Poor prints, help...

I use 235 / 95 with glue stick and I have trouble getting the prints off the bed...especially large prints. But, I also use a 1/16 inch aluminum defuser disk between the glass and the Onyx.

Here's a question, do you have any cool air or breeze hitting your printer? That could cause the ABS to warp.

Re: Poor prints, help...

Sounds to me like poor adhesion to the print bed. I had that problem intially and solved it using four layers of Elmer's Purple Glue stick. Put it on the glass bed directly (lose the blue tape) when it is at room temp. Lay down one layer, then a second layer in a crosshatch patern. the last two laye...

Re: First Print...Nozzle Clogging?

The only reason I bring it up is I've read threads about some filament that had impurities that caused clogged nozzles. If I remember correctly it was some no-name brand purchased through ebay. Not saying that is your issue but something to consider.

Re: First Print...Nozzle Clogging?

It's hard to tell from what you wrote but did you break the thermistor and then powered up the hotend? If so, it's likely that it overheated and damaged the PTFE tube inside. That could account for the clogging. I've never had ABS clog the nozzle (I'm assuming you're using ABS based on the temp you ...

Re: New Rostock Max V2 Owner

Hi! Just purchased a Rostock Max V2 as my first 3d printer - got it during the MWRRF this year. Been printing with it for about a week now, and getting fairly decent results. It's pretty well stock, except for a switch to the Prometheus V2 hotend (stupid RTV). Jumped right in to printing with PLA (...

Re: SOLVED: Bed taking forever to heat up

My heated bed max PID value was the issue... Like the 100's of times i had done before i was calibrating my printer after some mods and editing the horizontal radius and i guess somehow the heated bed max pid got changed to 40 from 255. I could understand if that number got changed to something sim...
