It uses 2 of the 608 Bearings. 5/16" or 8mm threaded rod will work.

Re: Disaster - tennis ball sized molten Nylon melted to head

I've only printed ABS, PLA, and PETG. I don't dare go above 235 on the stock hotend in case it should overshoot by a lot for some reason. I have a Corsair PSU so it can get it as hot as I need providing the firmware will let it. I have a Prometheus V2 hiding in the wings so I will upgrade at some po...

Welcome to the fun!

So what's wrong with the makerbot? It's nice to have a back-up printer if your primary printer is occupied or perhaps down.

Re: Disaster - tennis ball sized molten Nylon melted to head

It's probably a good time to upgrade to Trick Laser Arms and get yourself a E3D v6 or Prometheus hotend. If you're going to be printing specialty filaments, you want a hotend that can handle the temps necessary. I'm surprised you are printing nylon with the stock hotend. Maybe I'm misinformed but I ...

Re: LOOKING TO PAY FOR CALIBRATION

It's too bad I'm on the other side of the country. I would help you for free (well maybe a beer or two) :) I didn't find calibration particularly difficult. If you're having problems, maybe it's a mechanical issue? Have you posted what you're having difficulty with, specifically?

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Maybe design a round spool holder arm that spins freely? IMO, the SeeMeCNC arm works but just barely. There are many times when the spool will get hung up momentarily to then suddenly release, shaking the entire printer. Over time the spools wear groves into the arm as well exacerbating the problem...

Re: Cheap MDF Enclosure with Plexiglass Door

This does look great. RE: ventilation. You could probably build the bottom of the enclosure just like a larger stock one - with a hole large enough to drop (gently!!! :) ) the whole thing right down through - allowing the base of the enclosure to line up with the top of the lower printer section. I...

Re: Hot end problems

On the V2 the hotend smokes the first couple of times you heat it up. It also smokes a bit sometimes when the filament extrudes out of the hotend.

Re: Tiko 3D

It doesn't appear to have a heated bed so they are relying on a special coating and an enclosure to ensure that ABS will stick and not warp. I agree that I can't see how the business could survive at $179. Time will tell.

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Spool holder complete... ugly, but should work just fine. Designed to laser cut or print. The arm is a lamination of two pieces which is the same approach as the SeeMe CNC arm. Should also be out of 1/4-20 t-nuts and screws about now. Non-alcoholic suggestions to un-ugly are welcome... Spool Holder...

Re: Cheap MDF Enclosure with Plexiglass Door

Any concern about the power supply and the electronics heating up because there is no cool air entering the base when completely enclosed?

I thought about doing something like this but venting the base to the outside to keep the cool air moving through the base.

Thanks to help from Matter Hackers' Christopher Moore, MatterSlice is happily generating support material beautifully. The Key is the field next to the Support Type drop-down that is labeled "degrees" By default that number is Zero. So even if you check the "generate support material&...

Re: New Printer Setup Issue

You have a old version of Arduino (1.05). You should try at least version 1.06 or even the latest version which I believe is 1.6 or something like that. Hmm, I will try that when I get back home today. I've downloaded the 1.05 one because that's what was used in the assembly guide (wanted to follow...

Support Material Question (Solved).

I have a question about something that has been driving me crazy. In the settings for MatterSlicer, you can check a box for Support material. My assumption was that if you checked that box, it would automatically create and print out support material for any overhang greater than 45 degrees (or what...
