Re: HE280 upgrade for MAX v2 - Worth it?

Well, at this point I'm over it. Not one positive response - not even from the staff at SeeMeCNC. I'm not sure why they are even selling the upgrade if it is so laden with challenges.

On to more pressing endeavors...

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Re: HE280 upgrade for MAX v2 - Worth it?

That's it?! I expected that there would be a lot more input both pro and con for this upgrade. Based on the one response, it seems that I would be better off not upgrading. Maybe I overestimated the benefits of this upgrade. Is there anyone who has had a positive experience upgrading their MAX v2 wi...

HE280 upgrade for MAX v2 - Worth it?

I've been eyeing the HE280 Hotend upgrade since it became available. I've also read quite a few post with folks having issues with the upgrade. I've had the MAX V2 for about 20 months now and it's been a rock solid performer! Other than having to replace the stock hotend once (the nozzle became &quo...

Re: Stock power supply?

Upgrading now is easier. I use a Corsair 750W modular supply. You won't regret it, but you may regret sticking with the stock power supply down the road.

Re: ESUN PETG

I've been using Alchement white PETG for some time now. It prints well at 235* with a bed temp of 95* on glue stick. I have not had any failed prints. My only complaint is that it tends to ooze from the hotend. It's fine when its printing but just before the print starts, it oozes quite a bit. The p...

I recommend printing it in PETG. It is strong, and many of the qualities of ABS except that it doesn't warp or shrink like ABS.

Agree with Ben. I suddenly developed the problem you described and redid my hotend PID settings and the problem was solved.

I wonder how much moisture would end up in the filament. I didn't see any drying mechanism in the video. Maybe you need to run this in a humidity controlled room?

Re: Wimpy Heated Bed (can't reach 100C)

It's most likely the PSU. The stock ones are mediocre. I replaced mine with a Corsair 750W and it doesn't take long for the heat bed to get to temp. Mine is sent to 95* for ABS

Re: What causes the nozzle to simply stop moving?

Just change the power settings in your computer so it doesn't "fall asleep." I print all the time with the computer connected - some prints over 10 hours. I've not even tried printing from the SD card. It's okay if the screen saver comes on but you don't want the monitor or hard drives to ...

Re: Does Your Rostock MAX v2 Hold Its Calibration?

It probably is closely related to the build process and making sure all of the mechanical aspects are correctly installed and functioning (i.e., no binding, looseness, etc.) My printer has held it's calibration since the day I built it and I have about 408hrs of use on it so far.

I've used PETG and it has a lot of good qualities. The thing that I don't like about it is it's tendency to ooze from the hotend... much more than ABS, which is what I use mainly.

Re: First test print with a Smoothieboard

Quick update. The final setting that gave me the best 20mm cube print was to increase junction-deviation to 35. The edges came out sharp and on the same plane as the cube surface. It would be nice to have a discussion where we can set up Smoothieware to be perfectly dialed in for Rostock Max 2. It ...

Re: Hotend can no longer get to 235*

Well, voltage and current aren't isn't the problem. The PSU is a Corsair 750W which is a very robust power supply. It was the PID tuning. I redid it a second time and all is well. I think over time, the resistors don't put out as much heat...and will probably put out less as they get even older. Tha...

Hello neighbor! I'm just in the next city over (Northridge).

If I can be of any help when you're building the V2, just let me know. I've got about 270 hours of total printing time on my V2 so far.

You might double check your wiring to the hot end.. maybe the crimping isn't making solid contact with the heating resistors?

Since a lot of us don't have a .25mm nozzle, maybe you would consider printing a selling a few of those. I would be willing to pay for it.

If you would be willing to do that, please send me a PM.

I changed them through MatterControl but I'm currently using Simplify3D. Now, last night it couldn't get up to temp again but I didn't have time to check the EEPROM settings to see if they changed again. If they didn't then I have to suspect that the heat resistors have weakened or perhaps one of th...
