Re: Hot end crashing into the bed and ruining print

I've had this happen as well. It turned out to be something weird with the .stl and how it got sliced. Thank god it didn't happen early into the print.

My guess is that it would either be that or your board is going.

Re: Rostock Max V3 - requests, suggestions, etc.

No disadvantage to aluminum except weight and cost.

My two cents:

Kill the round or chamfered design and make the Max more enclosure friendly. I can't envision increased product cost as the result of doing this.

John, very exciting! Can you tell us more?

Timeline?
How you envision this getting rolled out?
Rough cost?
Criterial for beta testing?

Sign me up regardless of course. (Please!)

Nice work!!!

Doing projects like this really push the envelope!

(Also, I believe someone will develop a material - soon - that will get past thermal contraction issues.)

Re: Your opinion on Patents

Hi everyone, I haven't seen any thread specifically about this yet, so I'm just asking for your opinion about patents. Reprap, 3d printers, and open source stuff in general are deeply tied to patents in one way or another, so I made a new questions and a poll. 1) What are examples of patent abuses ...

As much as I love lights, I hate wires sticking out all over the place. LOL

I think it's time to figure out to hide everything on the effector - something like what a bonnet does for a car...LOL

Partsdaddy, Of course, I saw this thread after I soldered the connections and covered them with RTV to prevent shorts. My wife Sherri, you remember her from our dinner in Santa Monica, right? She came in my office this morning at 6, saw me scratching off the RTV and said "I thought you soldered...

I want you to print a Ferrari Daytona mold. I might have access to an engine...

If you do that, I'll pay for your materials plus fiberglassing one body from the mold.

BTW, congrats! I saw that first thing this AM! :D

Replete with one cool spot, which I'll mark. I have a V5 now.

Re: Adapting RAMBo connectors for Smoothieboard

This post is a great reason for double categories. I would have looked for something like this in a Smoothieboard category.

We also need a sourcing category...way too much stuff out there to buy hidden away in threads.

I've received mine but haven't hooked it up. Now I'm wondering if you hook up an LED somewhere on the plastic fan mount, whether or not it will glow...

Which setting did you end up using for the Semitec?
