The order went in today for about $60.00 shipped, without the heatsinks. (Heat Cartridge, Thermistor, and screw and wire kit included.) Diamond Hotend Additionally, I'll need this stuff: (sourcing and prices may vary, this was just a quick search for what I needed.) E3D Heatsinks (V6) x3 E3D Heatbre...

Lets hear a few of the "gotchas" you ran into. I'm mid build, so I'm curious. The two that got me during the build are: (Taken from my build log) 1. Instructions mention a string to strip the 18 ga. wire sheath. (Step 6, pg 80) Mine didn't have that string, but I used the bare wire to the...

Welcome from a fellow Michigander. Please give a shout if you need any assistance. I'm still rather new too, but I may help you head off some "gotchas" I came across while building and calibrating my Rostock Max V2.

Well, the buyer who bought this printer had problems trying to print ABS. (It doesn't print ABS), and Ebay said I had to refund him the money because I didn't say in the listing it wouldn't print ABS. (Item not as described.) So it's back, and I'm out a chunk of change for shipping there and back, a...

That looks so awesome! Much cleaner than mine. I crashed my Super-H 600 from Hobbyking, so I used most of the parts and printed out a new body from Thingiverse. My first good flight was today, but it was still touchier (is that a word) than my old one. More dialing in to do. [img]http://www.perrydi...

Yes it is. Printing out all the pieces taught me a lot about how my printer works best, and how to identify when things aren't right.crim wrote:Very nice!!

If your using Windows 8.1 This app may be what your looking for. I use it to view .stl files. I don't have the .stl files associated to the app, so I can't say if it generates a preview.

Have you tried the ABS / PLA hybrid yet? I've tried the 90% PLA/10% ABS blend with pretty good results. I don't print a lot of PLA, but it works just like PLA, same temps and everything. No Warping. I've tried their SMOOVE as well, and it prints good. The only problem I had was I was printing with ...

Here's a print I made with the Laywood product from FABB Filaments. It was part of a gift for my mom on Mother's Day. The only thing I did was hit it with a coat or 2 of some clear spray paint I had in the garage. Printed at 230c. Minimum support.

I'd love to utilize your design, but would it be possible to have the fan holder portion straight up and down, instead of on a slant? The reason I ask is that I have an enclosure, and the current layer fan shroud can bump into it, if printing something rather larger in diameter. I've been trying to ...

Ny issue printing the x.stl file was the z-lift. it was set to low at default. I received recommendations to raise it to 1 mm, which did the trick!

My "Other" is that it was the best kit on 3dhubs for 2015 , had a large print volume, could be customized, and wasn't overly expensive.

This issue is solved. Slowing down the travel speed and raising the z-lift did the trick! I was able to successfully print all the files. Thanks everyone!

Thanks Nylocke! I've slowed down the travel and raised the Z-hop, and it seems to have helped alot! I'm down to the just the bottom y and x tower files left to print.

Hey 3D-Print, Here's my idea on a belt tensioner for the Rostock Max. It may take a little imagination to understand, since my drawing skills never got past kindergarten. The idea is to press down on the green lever, and the upper pulley moves up, tensioning the belt. The angled "teeth" ho...

Hi Ziggey I was running the same temps as you last week when I first started 3d printing with my Rostock Max V2, and experienced the same issues. For ABS, I'm currently running 95c on the bed, and 230c on the extruder using purple glue sticks and I haven't had any curling on pieces up to 240mm wide....

Ok, I've found that my "Z-Lift" (Under Settings/Filament in Matter Control) was set to .2 mm. I raised that to .5 mm, and have slowed my travel speed to 125 mm/s. I'm trying those setting and using the CuraEngine for slicing on the ZTOP.stl file. (Still to scared to try the X.stl file yet....
