Re: Error printing X.stl from Rostock Max enclosure by jfett

Hey! That's probably the issue! I didn't know I could raise the retract distance for the nozzle....let me try that. Thanks KAS! As an update, I was able to print the z tower bottom, the x tower top, and all the "betweens". I also printed a few things I needed for my recently crashed quadco...

Re: Error printing X.stl from Rostock Max enclosure by jfett

Thanks all, I'll try all of your suggestions today and let you know how it turns out. First try I think will be the SD card. My speed is only 15 mm/s first layer, 22 mm/s all others, and 200 mm/s travel. I'll try dropping the travel speed a bit and see if that helps too. Wish me luck!

Did you have any difficulties printing the X.stl file? That seems to be the one file I can't get to print.

Re: Error printing X.stl from Rostock Max enclosure by jfett

Thanks imboring25. I am using the default settings from seemecnc except I'm running my bed at 95c. No problems with the skates or belts. Anything else I want to print is great! No issues with adhesion either, everything is staying nice and flat. Help?!?

Re: z index way off when calibrating now

I just had the same problem when I changed computers that run my printer. I couldn't figure out why the heck my x tower height was so much higher than the z or y tower. Then I took a second look at my macros and noticed I had typo'd the x tower macro and added a 5 where it should have been 0. Oops. ...

SOLVED: Error printing X.stl from Rostock Max enclosure

Ok, I'm now at my wits end. (Not a far journey....) I have attempted to print the Rostock Max V2 enclosure by jfettig on Repables. http://repables.com/r/447/ Every file from the above url has printed successfully so far except "X.stl". It always fails at the same point in the print with th...

Re: Hot end crashing into the bed and ruining print

Not to bring up an old topic, but I'm experiencing this issue with one particular print right now. I'm using mattercontrol, and I'm trying to print the x.stl file from here: http://repables.com/r/447/ Shortly after starting to print the infill, the hot end grinds into the print, then it starts to pr...

Re: Newby in Michigan

10 Lessons learned after 1 week- 1. Calibration is an art form to enjoy, not a chore to avoid. 2. When you think you've got it "dialed in" and can leave it print while you go to dinner, that's when you find spaghetti on your printer when you get back. 3. PLA is ok, but ABS is nice! 4. Don'...

Re: Checking out the local filament factory...

I purchased the colored ABS and Wood filament, and he gave me 1kg of SMOOVE to try! (90% PLA/10% ABS) I'm playing with the yellow ABS right now, I'm going to try the SMOOVE next. The gentlemen at the factory were really nice and excited to show my wife and I around. They currently have 3 lines runni...

Checking out the local filament factory...

I was searching around for a local source of filament in my area, and 'lo and behold, there's a factory in my neighborhood! I emailed the owner and he invited me to come tour the factory tomorrow. Being still new to all this, is there anything I should be looking for or ask so I don't seem a complet...

Re: Newby in Michigan

So far, every print has turned out great. I've printed the Peek Fan shroud and the Layer fan shroud in ABS. Then a thingy in PLA to round over the filament reel holder, then wrapped it in Teflon tape to make it slick so the reel doesn't jump every so often. I also printed a small funnel in PLA to ma...

Re: Newby in Michigan

So I still haven't sold the Makerbot Replicator, but I did manage to get started building the Max V2. I'm only doing a few steps a day, and I've had 2 issues so far: 1. Instructions mention a string to strip the 18 ga. wire sheath. (Step 6, pg 80) Mine didn't have that string, but I used the bare wi...

Makerbot Replicator Gen-5 for sale

Looking to sell my Makerbot Replicator Gen 5. Works great, just not what I was looking for. I now have a Rostock Max V2. :) This is the second time I'm posting this, due to a buyer on Ebay hosing me over and costing me over $500.00 in shipping ...

Re: how do I wire extruder motor?

I'm building my max v2 now, (I'm at the onyx bed) and I'm concerned I may see this issue. Would it be possible to get 2 pictures of the wiring? One per the manual, and one that works if you get the chattering extruder?

Thanks!

Re: Newby in Michigan

Before you sell it print the fan shrouds. That way you can compare the 2 prints. That is a great idea, but unfortunately the Makerbot can only print in PLA. The Rostock MAC v2 Assembly guide (pg 251) says: For your first (and second!) prints, you're going to need to have ABS filament handy. This is...
