PLA Petal Vase - very little stringing!

Hello all, PLA stringing has been driving me crazy. After spending about 20 hours of making small calibration tests to get rid of blobbing and stringing (ABS is so much easier to work with!), I think I finally got this working to the best of my ability. I reduced stringing about 90% and was still ab...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Spool Spin Smoother

I've noticed a few people buy the rostock and end up building them for others. I assume these are side local businesses (I can't imagine the fully built machine ships well to someone who has no idea how to calibrate it). How does one find people that want you to build the machine for them? Just curi...

Re: Wipe before retract + Min Extrusion Requiring Retraction

Good question. I am printing a different object at the moment, but I have already notice that it is wiping a LOT more since I changed the Min Extrusion Requiring Retraction to 0.75mm down from 1.5mm. Virtually all of the budding has gone away and not seeing any stringing....but then again I am not m...

Wipe before retract + Min Extrusion Requiring Retraction

Hi, So, I was printing something with thin towers and netted myself a lot of horrendous stringing. Most note-worthy is the fact the stringing was on the side from which the hot-end came as it moved from tower to tower. There were four towers forming the outline of half a hollowed cube. The strings c...

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Spool Spin Smoother

I like Genes for the simplicity. Mine is quite a bit more complex. I think the difference may be that for larger spool holes like what I have, the larger semi-circle gives a little bit of resistance so there is a little bit of tension. With the thinner one, you gain simplicity and also the ability t...

Well, that would certainly work too! Here is the one I just put on thingiverse.

Re: Rostock Max V2 - Spool Spin Smoother

Ah, I didn't know that there were spools with smaller holes that the ones with the matter hacker filaments I bought. I can always revise the design so that there are two models for it. I am not sure if the photos showed up, but I did print it successfully (after adding the mouse ears) and it now spi...

Rostock Max V2 - Spool Spin Smoother

I grew tired of seeing the entire machine shake everytime the extruder tried to pull in some filament. Obviously, it's square up there and the inner part of the spool is round. So, here is something I threw together. Need a little bit of super glue to hold it together, but it sure made a difference ...

Re: Front Speaker Wall Mount

Wow, good link. The Wally Thing is pretty cool! I hadn't seen that yet on Thingiverse. Also, I have since discovered that I really just got lucky with that speaker mount print being as big as it was with ABS. I made a new print that was peeling to high heaven no matter what I did...and then I rememb...

Re: Front Speaker Wall Mount

right? The guy spent all that money on building a movie room and then put the wires coming out through a hole near the floor. It's in the wall, just completely off-center. I don't want to put a new hole in the wall but may have to do exactly that and fish it up. I hope there isn't a stud. Meh. At le...

Front Speaker Wall Mount

OK, so before my RSM-V2 came in, I needed a wall mount for a very heavy round-backed center speaker in our media room. The previous home owner simply placed it on the floor and I couldn't really find the right mount for it. I decided to design one in TinkerCad and then prompted waited months until I...

So that is what that was when I accidentally double clicked the STL file. I thought it was part of Matter Control and that it picked up the file type. That explains it!

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

I printed the PEEK shroud successfully. It came out pretty close to flawless. I am absolutely blown away by the print quality of my first print. What a great manual! Thanks Seemecnc! Now, onto the layer shroud so I can use this roll of PLA I have.

Windows 10

I did not see a thread regarding setup on Windows 10 vs. Windows 8 and below. I thought I would share what I did and did not do. 1) Windows 10 automatically discovered the device USB driver. It did not show up as an unknown device as stated in the manual. You still need to go into your device settin...

Re: LCD PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to take a moment and share that I experienced this same issue. The problem for me was due to inserting one of the LCD cables upside down on the board. The way one of the cables was made was "upside down" so i got a bit confused. Bottom line is there is a RIDGE in the middle to...

Re: Dinosaurs Build a Rostock Max V2 in Alaska

This is an awesome and fun thread. I'm almost at the point where I flip the switch and hope that nothing catches fire. Great to see the PEI upgrade. I may do that as well once I get past the fear of turning it on the first time and get a few prints under my belt

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

What a beautiful mess, what a beautiful mess I've made... So, here is a pic of the pre-installed RAMBO board. It feels like wires are flying everywhere despite my efforts with lots of kapton tape to control the madness. (I love that stuff by the way. Best. Tape. Ever.) Maybe, just maybe, I'll be abl...

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

Movin movin movin....getting further along everyday. I am putting plugs on the 18 and 24 guage wires that connect to the hotend so i can swap it out easier later on with other things. Not sure why my phone likes to rotate the image when attatching. Doh

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

1/4 done, at least as far as pages go. I am documenting a few minor recommendations for the manual if that is OK. Mostly around getting the towers in and the wires.

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Thanks for the feedback. One less thing to do. I have to say that as far as tech manuals go, this is excellent so far and I am having as much fun building this as I thought I would. I've written a number of tech manuals over the years and this one is par excelle...

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

Question...in mhackneys thread, he mentions using lithium grease. Is there a reason that would be preferred to say a graphite lubricant? I understand with graphite though there may be particulates, but they are non-conductive and should be well away from the hot end entry point for the filament. Jus...

Re: Agisis's Blue Build

It is starting to look more than just parts now. Having a blast. Only thing that tricked me was the powersupply did not have the type of cables shown in the pics. Got that sorted out as best I could by sticking with yellow and black. Next up is towers and to install the cork dampers on the motors.
