found source for layer alignment, i think

I believe i had found my issue with some slight layer alignment issues that i have been dealing with lately. (I hope) Prints were coming out excellent from after calibration then in the past couple months the prints started to get artifacts such as layer alignment issues about 1/2 inches up. This ev...

Re: I may have a problem...

Yes, i agree. its really the future, and its just the beginning of home manufacturing. I seem to have the trouble of not being able to find business. I can make and design but people around here just don't seem to get it. Until they see the machine working that is, but geting tired of showing people...

Re: Weird things happening

Good advise on the belts, if they are not slipping there really is no reason to go tighter as that will cause more problems like belt stretch and uneven torque. As far as lubrication goes with those molded u joints- do not lube them as geneb mentions. I thought I was getting rod creep as one of the ...

Hello everyone from Minnesota

Living in the Mississippi valley in Minnesota 3d printing away with my Rostock Max V2. Been printing for a while and posting here as well, just never introduced myself. I was searching the forums on how to change my username as you can see it has my email address. Not ideal. I would like to change t...

Re: Push button getting wore out?

As always, excellent advise! I could not see anything but took some dental floss after pulling the knob off and went in between it and some filament (very small amount) was in there. Works like a charm. Thank you again. excellent forum!

Push button getting wore out?

Push button on the LCD seems to be acting up. The push function seems less like a button and more stiff. If I push it harder it works, but not all the time. Anyone else get this issue. I have the V2. Everything else works great just the select function/push button. Could I lube the pushing mechanism...

could you check your print speeds? you may be overshooting the target layer. Print something very slowly and max speed to very slow and watch. ??? just trying to brain storm.

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

Also think about rigidity. The stock hot end mount is extremely beefy, which makes it more rigid. Quite a bit more beefy than the mounting hardware you get for an e3d.

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

I get this same effect. kind of annoying really but I am running rostock max, stock, no modified electronics but with E3D V6 hot end. But if you get back to basics, :ugeek: we are running stepper motors which step in degrees. They just do it so smoothly we don't notice. :ugeek: And by using a high q...

Re: rostock is retracting to many times

I was a bit nervous for rep because all i knew was matter control. But i think it all boils down to personal preference. I like repetier host better than i thought, but mattercontrol is nice but again with thte personal preference. and oh ya that thing about learning curves.

Re: rostock is retracting to many times

Update. I loaded Repetier host and calibrated that and sliced with slicer and printed some parts, and all is working well, no retraction issues and part is actually to size. Had to change my printing radius but that is all. For now ill stick with rep. Any insight on what was making matter control ac...

Re: PETG (PET)

I find that printing it hot like at around 250 c the part is more glossy. and printing 220 c its more of the filament gloss. but all around its a good filament, i made a shower part once with it that had threads in it and it would not hold threads, the layers came apart, then i printed a black abs d...

Re: rostock is retracting to many times

Update. Something went terribly wrong. I am printing some more cubes and it seemed to be printing nicely then i heard a snap. it was some clips holding the glass bed on and the bed moved because the nozzle ran into the block. it was as if the nozzle was never moving upwards. I am going to have to do...

Re: rostock is retracting to many times

Ok so the .750x.750x.5 cube is way off of speck it measures .670x.670x.495. Seriously last week was running parts that were dead on to what the model called for. the print looks perfect, just undersized.

rostock is retracting to many times

I had just did an update from matter control 1.3 to 1.4 and noticed that slic3r was not working, so then i rolled back to 1.3 and now i am getting weird prints, i use matter control exclusively. Some prints act just like under extrusion, while other prints retract every change in direction. I am bac...

Re: PETG (PET)

I am using PETG from makergeeks.com its their maker filament HD green glass. I started with this filament and it prints nicely. I am having issues making a fitbit holder with it as some of the walls on the model are thin and it likes to snap there. Ive printed it with 220c 230c 240c and 250c and it ...

slic3r not working since update

I have used slic3r in the past within mattercontrol and it had worked just fine, but I recently updated to mattercontrol 1.4 and now it always comes up with a slicing error. Please review your settings. It doesn't matter which settings, nothing can work. Both matterslice and cura work as expected. I...

Re: Z-lift issues

That sounds like a great way to trouble shoot towers. But are you talking about squaring the towers to the glass build plate that is on the onyx? Or are you going off the machine itself. I cant square anything on the onyx as there is a low spot between X and Z tower. Adding the glass build plate mak...
