Re: Discontinued???

That's a shame. I've got number 31. My first printer and it still prints like a champ. The only thing I've done to it was replace the print head and put an ez extruder on it.

Re: Light Saber and Phaser

I did take your suggestion on weathering techniques and did some research on ways to better achieve it. I'm pretty satisfied with the way this one turned out.

I'm going to give this a try. Maybe YouTube will have a video where I can see it being applied. Time to conduct some "search-fu"

Re: Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster

Just use a small (00 or 000 is what I prefer) brush with black on it, and use it to remove any fading between colors, as well as to add somewhat angular lines to it. That helps it mimic chipping better. Lol...now that I know about it, I have to do it! Are you saying that, with this technique, to us...

Re: Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster

Its hard to see in the photo but I did use a pearlescent gold wash that gives it an interesting shimmer. I intended to break out the airbrush and try again but I just kind of ran out of energy for it at the moment. I'm not sure how I would harden the edges... I'll see what I can find about that. The...

Re: Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster

Thanks. Honestly, I've never tried to weather anything. Lots of learning happened on this. Here was an attempt to model heat effects. I didn't end up using it.. I do, however, draw. This wasn't too different from that.

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

Just a quick update on the very first thing I've ever made with a 3D printer. Finished it this morning. I know this isn't a maker forum and I'm not going to flood with pics. but I seem to recall someone wondering what we would make with the new Eris. Here's what I made with mine... Thanks for an awe...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

There's a bug in z-lift that MH doesn't seem terribly interested in fixing. You should make sure you're using the most current Eris firmware - there were some updates posted on Thursday or Friday at the SeeMeCNC github. g. SWEET!! Meanwhile,,,,,, trying out printing with PetG, on Kapton tape. I'll ...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

Folks, I seem to have resolved the stringing problem that I had :D . After messing with various settings, I believe I have narrowed it down to the Z-Lift. I also lowered my temp down to 200 deg C, from the default of 210 deg C. I also restored the retraction-length back to 4.5mm, which was the defa...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

I think I've got the temp and speed where I want it. Still dealing with some strings but they're improving. Detail on the prints is outstanding.

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

Not seeing any layer separation.. at least in your pictures.. I do see some under extrusion which could be a matter of both print temp too low and print speed too fast tough.. I would see about slowing down your print speed Print speed is already pretty low. Would moving the temp up to 225-230 impr...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

Wow.. default profile needs some tuning I see.. was this filament that came with the printer by chance? or your own? Came with the printer. I've gotten happier results with a temp of 220. Still some very small areas of layer separation in spots. I'm not certain how to resolve that. I'm just kind of...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

I think the default temperature setting might be too low. It seemed fine with a small profile cylindrical object but something with a larger surface area doesn't want to adhere to the bed and the first layer doesn't completely melt together. Raised the temp to 220 and it seems to be doing MUCH better.

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

So the first piece is done. Printed at the defaults, about 5 hours to print. It was stringy and had some small pits in the side. At little bit of work with a hobby file cleaned it up quite a bit. I couldn't get it off the build plate with the removal tool so I finally just grabbed it and "snapp...

Unfortunately, I resolved my issue pretty late last night and had a very early morning appointment. The only thing...

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

Pretty sure the answer is nothing. Those are intended for the Orion and the Max. The only things that might be useful are the material profiles. There's actually a download on the Eris purchase page for the machine. I have it, I'm just not sure where to put the files. For example, there are files t...
