Re: RostockV2 hot end won't heat past 145C
I pulled the hot end apart, to get to the individual resistor leads. One is 8.4 Ohms, and the other is an open circuit. So, I have definitely burned out one of the heater resistors. 8.4 is about 1.25x the nominal 6.8 Ohms, so it's not _too_ far out of tolerance (assuming 20% tolerance parts). I know...

Re: RostockV2 hot end won't heat past 145C
I have ordered new resistors, which should hopefully make it here in a few days. In the meantime I'll tear down the hot end and examine it for what specifically may have failed. Thanks for the confirmation that I'm probably on the right track.

RostockV2 hot end won't heat past 145C
I have an essentially stock Rostock V2, with the old hot end. A few days ago, the last print was printing ABS at 220C. Today, I cannot get the hot end to heat past 140-145C.Watching the temp rise, it appears to act as if the set point was in the 140-145C range. That is, the temp rises more slowly as...

Re: Dimensional accuracy vs. extrusion volume
Nebbian, thanks for the response. I've got a few clarifying questions, if you don't mind. What is grid compensation? Is it safe to assume that if I don't know what it is, I've not got it enabled? The only reference to it I could find is http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=111&t=11282 . I s...

Dimensional accuracy vs. extrusion volume
I'm having difficulties reconciling getting dimensional accuracy with using enough plastic to merge together into a single solid part. My setup: Rostock Max V2. Upgrades: EZRStruder, Aluminum heat spreader 13-point software bed leveling calibration 0.5mm nozzle Extruder steps/mm is calibrated to hav...

Re: Did I just break my hot end?
The printer is working well, and I have ordered spare nozzles as well to have both a backup and also the finer 0.35mm size. I realized I held the torch on too long when I saw the slight glow, and stopped immediately. I do appreciate the warning, and will be on the lookout for any issues with softeni...

Re: Did I just break my hot end?
With my 30W iron, the filament stretched and snapped, as gentle as I tried to be with it. So, I went big with the propane torch, because that's what I have. I'm sure I overdid it (it was night and the tip got to glow red slightly...), but the end result is that the nozzle is clean and running ABS qu...

Re: Did I just break my hot end?
Thanks for all the advice, helping a newbie out with basic information like this. I'll try a 30W soldering iron, a 110W soldering gun if that can't do it, and last effort the propane torch (a.k.a. 'nuclear option'). The PTFE tube got pulled out because the filament had mushroomed inside it. That end...

Did I just break my hot end?
I've been printing PLA with my Rostock Max V2+. (The 2+ is because it came with an EZRStruder. Otherwise, it's as documented in the assembly instructions.) The printer has been operational for around a month. This morning, it stopped extruding. This evening I diagnosed it down to the hot end being j...

Thanks for the confirmation. I definitely didn't get the top of the printer seated on the Y axis!

Rostock Tower Calibration Woes
I have recently completed the mechanical build of my Rostock Max V2 and am working my way through the calibration process. I've got everything wired up properly and am working off of the User Guide 1st edition, in section 2.4. I have two issues. The first issue is annoying, but I can deal with it. I...

Re: [04Feb16 - Rostock MAX v2, 4th Edition Manual
I've just completed the build of my Rostock v2. I have to say that the instructions, in general were excellent. There were a few botched image references in the text, but nothing that couldn't be figured out easily. The one major departure was the cold end instructions. Basically, much of Chapter 10...
