Re: Height map issues
I have almost the exact same setup as you (only exception is that I have an E3D hotend/mount), and am getting great results. One big difference I see is that your probe area is a lot larger than mine: Number of probe points: 137 Probe area: 314.2 cm² Have you tried decreasing your probing radius? Mi...

Re: Printing Speeds
A suggestion: Cura has a 'TweakAtZ' Extension (Extensions-->Post-Processing-->Modify G-Code). One of the options is to generate g-code that changes the Print/travel Speed at different (pre-defined) heights. What I do is print a tall object starting relatively slow, then increase the speed by 10 % ev...

3 - I've tried TinkerCAD, but the precision with which I can line things up and size things seems limited (albeit with the tutorials plus 4 hours of experience.) Is this of sufficient value to continue to put time into learning or is there another low cost product that would be a better time invest...

Re: Favorite Cartesian Printer? 2017
I agree with Jimustanguitar - The genuine Prusa I3 is hard to beat. I typically print larger, so I was looking at the FolgerTech FT-5 (with upgrades) as well - good size and CoreXY. I've also seen a MakerFarm Pegasus 12, and it seemed to be a really nice stable machine that produced very good prints...

Re: Adhesion and general bed problems-Max V3
Try holding down the glass bed using only 3 of the six blue plastic retainers (use every other one) - make sure ALL of the retainer screws are tightened fairly tight, as the same screws are holding the plastic pieces that your bed sits on (and it sounds like you might have bed level issues). Your be...

Re: Has anyone written up a guide to DEF?
I experienced the DEF error by tightening the Thermistor wires down too tightly and pinching the wires between the washer and the heat block. Not sure if you already checked for this, but it could explain why your problems occur with longer jobs (with heat expansion in the mix).

Re: Help with stringing
Here's what worked for me: 1. I stopped using matter control in favor of Cura - including this for completeness, not sure if it made a material difference or not. 2. Calibrated my extruder: https://www.matterhackers.com/articles/how-to-calibrate-your-extruder (see the Bowden section of this post) 3....

Re: BerdAir comeing soon From Yellow Jacket Concepts
Installed my BerdAir system - and for the most-part, really liking it. I have, however run into a problem where burrs left over from the hole drilling process is preventing even cooling all the way around the ring. It's kind of disappointing that this was not done during a QC check by Yellow Jacket,...

On my RMv3, the fans are slightly angled towards the hot end by tightening the mounting screws.

Re: Question about the new V3 style triple fan part cooling
I find it to be just 'okay'. The fans are pretty weak but do move air over your print. I do most of my printing in PLA, and find that stronger, more direct airflow on the part works best for me - for that reason I'm in the process of replacing my part fans with the Berd Air system.

Re: Move sketch in Fusion
Hi, I generally try do do everything I can in a single sketch, and then extrude the different body parts separately - I think that's the easiest (since you have access to the dimension tool, constraints, fix/unfix, midpoints, etc.). So... 1. Draw everything out in a sketch: Your frame, logo and icon...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Build with minor mods
The BerdAir system is an excellent off-the-shelf example. I built several similar systems before the BerdAir was available. I'm using the BerdAir on all my new machine moving forward. Michael - how did you end up mounting and controlling BerdAir on your systems? Can you share any wisdom or lessons ...

Re: Someone using matchmixer here?
I'm not familiar with the model, but many slicers (including Slic3r) have the option to produce supports 'everwhere' or for parts of the model that need just need support from the bed. It looks like 'bed only' support might accomplish what your looking for. Also, one of the big advantages to Simplif...

Re: Slicer Tests on the Rostock MAX V3
I haven't encountered a problem with large files in Prusa Slic3r... In fact, I recently loaded and sliced a 8.5 MB file that generated 250 MB of GCode.
I couldn't say if your problem is being caused by a system resource issue - but I have a pretty beastly PC with 32GB of RAM and a big disk drive.

Loud power supply fan...
Hello, I recently built a RMv3, and am loving it so far except for one thing... The power supply fan noise. It's really loud. I thought that this was normal, but but I've read other threads stating that - post Duet conversion (which I'm in the middle of) - that the loudest sound they hear from the p...

Beautiful prints! What type/brand filament did you use for these parts? You mentioned PLA in this post, but these parts (at least in the pictures) look more like the PETG that I've experimented with. So very cool...

Well, on the Eris, making the change that Nebbian suggested works on my Eris. It works fine on my RMv3 as well. Sorry - I wasn't being clear - I asked SeeMe about this before Nebbian posted, and just got the response from them today, so I thought I'd share that this may be formally addressed in the...

Just an update for anyone who's interested... I contacted SeeMeCNC/Caleb about this, and here's the response I received:
Just asked John and there isn't currently a way to set the towers to home after reset with the new HE280 hotend, but we're working on getting that feature up and running.

Re: 'Home' when reset button is pushed
I don't know what is supported by the standard electronics and firmware, but with Duet electronics you get Pause Print and Cancel Print buttons on the web interface and the touch panel. Their behaviour, as well as the behaviour at power on or reset, can be customised by editing gcode files on the S...

Re: Slicer Tests on the Rostock MAX V3
I haven't posted this yet but Prusa has a branch of Slic3r - called the Prusa Edition - on their web site. It is remarkably better than stock Slic3r and has some really excellent new features AND Prusa's commitment to migrate the code over to C++ for performance and stability. I've used it quite a ...
