The new extruder design captures the PTFE tube, so even if the tube is split in several pieces it should stay in place.
In a pinch I had to combine the 'ok' parts of a couple bad PTFE tubings until replacements arrived. So you should be ok.

Re: Reduce warping curl in ABS prints?
First crank your bed temp up, I run mine around 110C. Second, are you using a cooling fan at all or maybe a breeze is going across the bed? I find that if the print is cooled unevenly or unexpectedly, the hour glass shape happens. I have gotten past most warping problems with ABS by raising the HBP,...

Re: Air in extrution?
The only filament I have not had problems with is Ultimachine's. The cost is a bit more then you can get via e-bay or other cheaper sites. But it's not that much more, $18-$20 per pound of ABS.

Re: Help choosing a second 3d printer
I voted other. I have a Printrbot LC+ and like it, ~8x8x8 print area, no failures and build sturdy. The only things I don't like about it is the dual Z-axis motors, I prefer a single motor with a belt connecting them (makes for easier setting/zeroing the z-axis) and I think it takes 3.0mm filament o...

Re: Air in extrution?
Have you tried to 'flush' out the air? You may have to run the extruder for a little bit (push 6-8 inches into it).
Otherwise the filament is to blame. I have found that air comes from cheap or poor quality filament and it causes it to expand on exit of the tip.

Re: extruder oozing
Do you have the old extruder design or the new one? I had the same problem with the old extruder design, I had to take apart the resistor housing and completely clean it out. I reassembled with a tiny bit of RTV to form a gasket between the two parts of the housing and tightened the assembly screws ...

That's interesting! I will have to try that. Does this work for PLA also? How heavy of a coat do you put on? Does it leave a residue on the printed object? Can it be cleaned off?

Re: PLA Jams
You are probably running the extruder too hot. I usually raise the temp until the extruder just feeds the filament out the nozzle.
Then I add a few degrees to that number and I have my temp for PLA.

Once the ceramic housing cracks the resistor is mostly garbage. Like BrainSlug83 said, replace it, not worth trying to fix or reuse.

Re: I melted my PTFE liner
300 degree C at the thermistor holes means that the inner parts are at a higher temperature. Not surprising that the PTFE started to melt. Good thing the liners come out and are replaceable .

Re: Extruder works in reverse
Hey Lance, You can either reverse the values in the config file configuration.h, recompile and upload or you can reverse the order of the wires in the connector connected to the RAMPS board. Unfortunately there is no way to see what the value are set to if the firmware has already been compiled and ...

Yeah, thats my next step. To slow down the print speed though, I guess this is done in slicer? From what I can see there are quite a few settings that I can play with. Yeah, you can do this in Slic3r, I enable cooling and in there is an option to slow down prints if layer print times are less then ...

Looking good! I tried to print the companion cube as my first print 8 months ago, it didn't go as well as yours .
You may need a fan pointed at the print object to help with the top/small print areas and maybe slowing down the print.

Here is my exported config file. Some assumptions: * SeeMeCNC machine with bed area approx 6x6.5 inches or 165x160mm (heated to 40-45 degC - This correlates to 110-115 degC - adjust to your machine values) * 0.50mm extruder nozzle * Ultimachine filament 1.75mm (size is actually 1.80mm - may vary - e...

I would update the the newest Slic3r v0.9.2. I will try to export my settings later tonight and upload them here. The new Slic3r breaks down the values into three areas, Filament settings, Print settings and Printer settings. I have different options set in each with each settings area having variat...

In one case, they simply strap the thermistor bulb firmly to a flat outside surface with wraps of Kapton tape, and it seems to work. That's how I hold the thermistor in place, Kapton tape. The resistors are rolled in foil, gently pushed into the extruder head and then excess is trimmed off (this pa...
