Re: A good replacement for 123D Design?
OnShape seems to be pretty decent. I have played around with it a little bit, and it seems to work well. I have access to Solidworks So I haven't spent a lot of time trying out the other versions. I was less impressed with DesignSpark Mechanical. Maybe it was just the difference in UI between it and...

Re: Real wax filament interested?
I'm way interested in this! I too print a ton of lost pla molds. I have been experimenting with wax extruder ideas, but what I really wanted was a filament. I would love to get on board with testing this as well. Is this wax filament coming from the people who make the laywood?

Re: ezstruder skipping a lot
So after a lot of troubleshooting and frustration, I think I have finally figured out what the issue was with my printer. My thermistor temperature reading has been way off. (I thought I checked that) not sure why, perhaps its just a bad thermistor, but ether way it was reading about 30 deg. hotter ...

Re: ezstruder skipping a lot
Let's see, put the drive gear down at the print head and run a rotating Bowden up to the frame where the motor is. Spin the Bowden like a spedo cable and turn the gear down at the head. That idea is crazy enough it just might work! the trouble is getting a flexible drive shaft that will effectively...

Re: ezstruder skipping a lot
Would there be any benefit to having the PTFE tube come out of the ezstruder and after about an inch put a coupler to a large size tube? Then down near the hotend use another coupler to bring it in to its normal size? that would eliminate any friction for about 9/10 of the length of the tube, and t...

Re: ezstruder skipping a lot
I have replaced the bowden tube once thinking it was the problem and also shortened it. But to no avail. Adding a bit of lube to the inside of the tube sounds like something worth trying. My older V1 has the upgraded trick laser top mount ezstruder setup. And the V2 has the stock top mount. I'm also...

ezstruder skipping a lot
looking for some help here. Small prints work just fine, large prints always run into this same problem of the extruder starting to skip pretty regularly after the first few hours of printing. the bottom half of the prints look great, but the farther up, the worse they get. (see picture) This is a V...

Re: EZStruder is always jamming with PLA
deadnoob, I am/was having the exact same problem you are describing. same jamming on the extruder and the power supply shutting down from overheating. I also removed the side covers from the base. follow the instructions by Guanu. I just updated my firmware and adjusted the current settings for my k...

stepper motors are super hot!
I'm having trouble figuring out why my stepper motors on my V2 Rostock are running really hot. I know its not normal, because I have a V1 Rostock and the motors on it run considerably cooler. The extruder motor is getting hot enough that its actually softening the pla filament as it passes over the ...

You guys have probably seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW-z6XN-1II" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Wouldn't it be nice to just connect whatever hotend-filament combo you have setup on stations :D I have seen that before, and yes it would be way cool to just do a ...

Re: An Idea for dual extruders
I have never given it much thought but if the dual extruders are exactly the same height then the second extruder should not hit the curled part any more then the printing extruder would. Dual extruders are becoming more and more popular and they seem to work fine without such exotic solutions. If ...

An Idea for dual extruders
Hey guys, So I have two Max's, one at my work, and another at home. Both are running E3D hot ends and upgraded arms and both work wonderfully. But the time has come to move forward with the dual head setup. I have spent some time designing a mounting system for the dual heads that incorporates cooli...

Re: Logisys Power Supply circuit breaker tripping?
I'm not sure what brand my power supply is, but it was doing the same thing as yours. I could heat ether the hot end or the Onyx but not both. I had ordered a 24 v power supply to heat the onyx but I didn't get my dc-dc ssr until just yesterday. So I took another PSU out of an old computer and just ...

Re: Melted hot-end, filament getting chewed up
Once I get the hot-end rebuilt, and verify the temp readings, is there a way to get the "real" temp to be reported by the firmware? Or is it just something to modify in my slicer settings as default? Thanks for all the suggestions. Anyone have any idea on the filament getting chewed up? I...

New member from Utah
Hey guys, Just introducing myself. I bought a Rostock Max a couple of weeks ago and been having a blast putting it together. Its my first 3d printer. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and so far haven't had any luck convincing my boss that I need a 3d printer on my desk at work. 8-) So I bought my own to pl...
