Re: Repetier 091 for Rostock MAX now available
Just in case it's not just me, I ran into problems when compiling this new firmware version using the Arduino 1.0.5 GUI instead of the new Arduino Builder (which crashes on me for some reason). For my older Rostock MAX with the previous generation RAMB0 board with only 1/8 microsteps, I customized t...

Re: Xnaron Printable Magnetic u-joint option for Rostock Max
Either the arms will fit and the balls will have to much play in the socket or vise versa. I had this same problem. My 8 yr old saw me filing away at it and suggested the solution: make your own. The one I used (stl & scad) is attached. If something is not fitting for you, just tweak the parame...

Re: Anyone using OctoPi with Rostock MAX?
I have gotten it working and I have also had that problem. My theory is that it's my LCD control panel. I still have mine on and have gotten it working. A few things to try: 1. Try different baud rates. I find 57600 works best. 2. Check your cable. A lot of people say that shorter = better. In my c...

Anyone using OctoPi with Rostock MAX?
I've been trying to get this working, but it runs into trouble with an error "expected line 2 got 1", and then the line numbers just keep incrementing. It does sort of work, but there are so many errors I don't trust it. I've posted for help on their forums, but I thought id ask if anyone ...

Re: Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
Ok, that totally worked. I changed the extruder value back to 92.4 and now I'm printing beautiful cubes and already moving on to new prints!
This thing is really loud. I love it, but now I'm setting up a webcam and moving it to my garage.

Re: Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
Well, that totally worked. Now I think I have the delta arm blues or possibly an extruder problem, so I need help with that. Summary of my problem: I bought the electronics kit and servos to build my own printer. That came with RAMB0 1.0d and 0.9 degree stepper motors. Later on, I bought the Rostock...

Re: Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
Sorry about that JohnStack, the info was buried in my mound of text in the first post. Too much data! Good news though. Based on the info here I was able to find the original info and discovered my original order included 0.9 degree steppers. At first I only changed STEPS_PER_ROTATION to 400. With t...

Re: Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
Sorry I wasn't clear. Here's what happens: G28 G0 Z0 F3500 goes to the center of the bed and gently pins the paper when I have XAXIS_STEPS_PER_MM defined as 80. If I set that to 40, the hot end only goes halfway down. G28 G0 Z0 X0 Y90 F3500 would crash into the bed with 80mm set as stated above. Wha...

Re: Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
You've missed that I'm not off by a few mm, I'm off by 20mm! I've never seen anyone post off by that much.

Rostock Max bed very convex - radius doesn't help
This has got me stumped, and I hope someone can help me, please. Here’s my mixed hardware. I bought the Rambo and servos first thinking I could build my own printer, but then bought the Rostock Max kit without electronics in April 2013. I've only just now finished building it! Rostock Max kit with s...

Help, please! I'm trying to work on my printer today and am unable to get the PDF from GitHub (blob to big error). Also, geneb site is not responding today. Can someone please post another link to this file? See if this attachment works. Yes, it absolutely does! Many thanks, you've saved my Sunday ...

Re: 2nd Edition Review Thread
This is dramatically improved. Please add a section on how to identify parts. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what #6-32 screws were until I spent an hour on Google and found some pictures. I also recommend you put the end stop wiring in before you put the towers on. Use a loose knot or tape to ...

Re: Frustrating Rostock Max build - still like it though
Another improvement needed: make the hole in the slider bigger where the belt has to go through. This could be 3-4 times taller without causing any issues, but would vastly improve the ease with which you fish through the belts. Until that's fixed, try this: Move step 19.x - thread belt through ridi...

Frustrating Rostock Max build - still like it though
I intend this post to be a learning experience for others, not a whine festival. I knew I was buying a kit, I'm fine with it. First, a few updates to the manual: A. Fish the limit switch wires through the uprights before you mount them on to the base. It's very easy at this point, but damn near impo...

Re: 2nd Edition of the Rostock MAX Assembly Manual
JohnStack, I tried to mount the power supply first. There are two problems with it. 1) if you don't seat the t-nuts first, you're gonna have a bad time, and 2) if you make the nylon bolts anywhere near snug, good luck getting the top platform to seat at all. I had to loosen EVERYTHING to get that to...

New Rostock Max owner in Fort Worth, TX
Just got my my Max last week and started the build. A bit frustrating here and there, but no regrets yet. With limited spare time it seems like it will take a week to complete the basic build. Maybe more if I keep running into trouble. I'll be posting a build summary at the end, but I don't have tim...
