Re: Makin fat stacks wit my Romax
^while I wait for my enclosure, there were a few small cracks in this on the corners. I used an 3D pen to fill in the cracks, sanded it down and abs'd it. Looks nice, imo. Try this as well " http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5524 " I have always had good luck doing it thi...

Re: Best moisture-free filament strategy?
I keep mine in individually wrapped bags with a desiccant packet in them.
I have yet to have any popping or surface quality issues.
I print with Botfeeder ABS that is almost a year old.

Re: lightning..
I experienced a similar problem when my computer could not keep the printers buffer full and the jerks coincided with the buffer depleting to zero and then filling again. There is no reason why this should be happening to you though as a result of lightening. Try printing from an SD card and let us ...

Thank you for the reply John. I know we are all excited to see this project progress. When do you plan on releasing the names of the lucky 10 so they can be ready to serve in this project?

Re: Workin on DropLit
Question....... Why does the printer rise several revolutions per layer only to then lower again? I would thing you would want to limit the amount of Z-axis re-travel to avoid error stacking. Also how does the print time compare to that of a Max version?

Re: Beta Tester Thread (OPEN NOW)
   Michael, All I am trying to do is clarify the intentions of the Beta test. Unless I read it wrong, John's ideal result is to have 10ish printers "Air Printing" by the end of the week. Since the list is still open I assume he has not received enough entries or not the entr...

Re: Beta Tester Thread (OPEN NOW)
I just reread the first post to verify, and it does say we are testing the hardware and electronics of the kit. So at this point we are "Air printing" (to quote the OP). I know we all want to print ASAP, but I bring this up incase some people have not signed up thinking that they needed to...

Re: ABS Cooling Crack Repair
There is no noticeable surface deformation IF you keep the heat moving. My major reason for using a heat gun rather than my plastic welder was that I wanted to heat the entire area to see if I could relax the internal stress that cause the crack rather than try to melt the crack together.

Re: ABS Cooling Crack Repair
These are very small cracks (may have to click on image to see them), but they disappear when you heat the ABS. To me this indicates what many have already said about printing in ABS and needing a heated chamber. I believe this is a patented method (Stratasys, or 3D systems) (   )...

Unfortunately I do not. While I was repairing the piece with the heat gun I was so caught up in how well it was going I forgot to take pictures.

I am currently printing ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:308335" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) @ 100% and was sad to see no less than 6 CRACKS in the print. By no means ruined, but still saddening. I have been using a heat gun ( http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-watt-du...

Re: 18 Gauge 4 conductor wire question
Also try to use stranded wire that is very fine and flexible. I had the stock wire break three separate times. Admittedly my routing played a large part in the failure, but I would still use fine stranded over the stock any day.
YMMV

1) I will stress both "Z Hight calibration" and "Individual Tower Hight Calibration" are crucial to this process. I thought I did a "good" job on the calibration part but still had lift issues. 2) The other item that stands out to my is your filament reaction in acetone...

My Hotend Stopped Working… Oh NO (Solution Found)
I started my evening with my normal request for the printer to "Preheat ABS". Everything went fine and the MAX came up to temp in a few minutes. The trouble started when I was ready to begin my print and noticed that my hotend was cooling off even though it was being commanded to 240C. Aft...

Re: Xnaron Printable Magnetic u-joint option for Rostock Max
I need to try this type of setup eventually. I noticed that my stock setup has a bit of play in it and I even shimmed it using 25 micron shims to insure a tight fit. I don't worry too much about it now because I run slow and still have a stock hotend. However, when I eventually go all metal and have...
