Re: mhackney's Rostock Max V3

I'm a big fan of how Aleph/Lulzbot's documentation looks (OHAI-kit). I checked out the GitHub and the setup is definitely more on the do everything yourself end of things but it seems pretty flexible, though I don't have much to compare it to.

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!

Whats the distance between the top of the Y to the bottom of your extruders? I'm using a flying extruder suspended from the carriages, vs yours is suspended from the frame so I want to know if theres a significant difference in tube length to determine if its drop in compatible with my setup. Also, ...

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!

Are there any concerns with the short tube that goes into the hotend breaking from bending forces? It looks pretty rigid (all the photos show it straight), and you said it has PEEK and various forms of carbon in it so it seems like it might be potentially breakable if you knock into it?

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!

I know, the hysteresis and all. I was mainly wondering if it tends to try to fold it's way out of the extruder, but you haven't tried it yet. I would be up for semi flex, but I have 3 rolls of 1.75 ninjaflex that I haven't done anything with yet, and ninjaflex isn't cheap.

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!

Have you tested flexibles like ninjaflex with the system? I've done some embedded ninjaflex in ABS type stuff before and its a really quite slick.

Re: The Prometheus System - Intuitive Multi-Filament 3D Printing!

So in the campaign all options include the extruders? I can imagine not using the prometheus or something very similar with a polished one piece assembly might be troublesome but I can't see what trouble a different extruder could cause. I need a new hotend for my Rostock and I was going to get an E...

Is the "y" a printed object? Would it be possible to make my own? Are you selling a version with just the prometheus and the y?

Re: Settings to print fine details/jewelry with the V2

If you've got a good cooling setup you could do that. I saw a video that Gene posted with his printer doing a 100-150mm bridge damn near perfectly, and most of those overhangs aren't greater than 45 degrees

Re: Asymmetrical prints

I have one of these http://www.wixey.com/anglegauge/ the type two I think. Its accurate +/- .2 degrees, but the Type 1 is +/-.1 and its not much more. Pretty similar to what you linked. You can find the wixey on amazon too.

Re: Asymmetrical prints

Its unlikely the belts are stretching that much to be an issue. They have fiberglass or kevlar strands in them that negate stretching. Its more likely to be one of the issues detailed by others in the same post you linked. Not sure if you checked how square your towers are, I looked through your bui...

Re: Color mixing ideas

The "wireless controller" is just a Pi2. If you check out the accessories in the store its in there for like $150. I'm pretty sure the tablet is a generic android tablet. Thats what I got from reading around on the website. I couldn't find what they're using for a controller, but if its no...

Re: Color mixing ideas

I thought there were some issues with hitting the mark on the palette (i.e. at the end of long prints the colors start to shift because of stacking tolerances)? Was your plan with mixing to do "every" color as long as it is solid (no precise gradients or patterns in extrusion) and use purg...

Re: LCD goes blank when power supply fan comes on

I've encountered this before, but its more prevalent on Marlin I think. Do you have any high power/high noise wires crossing the LCD wires? Is the base a bit of a rats nest? I think if theres too much noise the LCD stops displaying the text it was displaying. If you click the push button in or spin ...

Re: Max V2 heated enclosure

Why are you using blue painters tape AND abs juice for ABS at 60C bed? That has only ever worked for 3D printing witches who sacrifice their first born to never fail at a 3D print. You can't expect it to succeed like that. Amazon, $27 sheet of ULTEM PEI @.040" thickness 12x12 sheet and some dou...

Re: Feed Issue???

Normally they don't go bad unless you overt-temp them. Try taking a temp reading from inside the hotend (stick it down into it and make sure its in the nozzle area) when its up to temp. Its not uncommon for them to run a little low. What temp are you printing at?

Re: Prints randomly turn out bumpy with weird skips on contour

You really shouldn't go above like 3/4's of your nozzle diameter with your layer height. Try with .5 to .6 max, I know that you're supposed to go high with T-glase but you might be a bit too high. Are you using the stock V6 heater block or a Volcano? I think you might have better luck with a Volcano...

Re: Feed Issue???

You could try using my original design strapped to the adapter plate glacian designed. The hobbed gears are the same diameter abouts, though you might have to shave some material off so the set screw doesn't interfere with the extruder body. I haven't tried this before but things should align and it...

Re: Feed Issue???

Are you using Glacian's design for the EZflex? I've noticed it has an issue where the hobbed gear isn't hugged as tight by extruder body as it should and the idler bearing sticks out a bit too far too, so theres a lot of space that filament can slip out of. I've had this problem with Ninjaflex, but ...

You know that that whole image is like an XKCD comic illustrating his point? It doesn't actually reflect on he learned about spark plugs, or if he even has. I'm not trying to stir anything up it just sounds like you're talking down to him IMO.

Re: First look at the new EZR Struder!

TriD's website is a little weird, but they are on this page http://www.tridprinting.com/Mechanical-Parts/ (its the 8mm ID one). Pilot, it does look like it will work, the hobb diameter is the same and the OD is .2mm smaller on the one you have. All other dimensions (excluding the ID) are the same. T...

Re: Max V2 heated enclosure

I think the threads would be fine (as in no support required) but I'm not sure how the larger overhang below that will turn out. It depends on which slicer you're using, It looks kinda like MatterSlice based on the top layer. I don't have a lot of experience with MatterSlice so I can't really comment.

I think they did it that way to avoid using support, you can kinda see it was sliced in half.
