Hah! I read so many positive replies to the canola oil that there must be some thruth in there... But it made me laugh a bit too. Nevertheless, often the simple solutions are the best. From what I have learned the last three weeks, that's particularly true about 3d printing!

That project seems not to have been picked up, it's not available for sale. But it is a really interesting thingy, because it is so much more compact than anything else! How did you build it?

Thanks teoman, I will definitely try. But would e.g. olive oil or sunflower oil be as efficient? Somehow I think that sunflower oil is much purer, but maybe that's just my misunderstanding...

I would imagine that canola oil, since it is sold for consumption, contains a lot of impurities that interact with the filament or get burned during extrusion. Isn't there a better solution for this? I guess motor-oil can withstand high temperatures much easier?

Looks like there is a whole lot more 3d printer parts on Repables then on Thingiverse. Did not know that.

To reply to myself: It seems to be difficult. The layer fans I've seen so far are all hanging too low next to the nozzle. And indeed it does not play nice together with the LED ring mount. You can't lower the nozzle a bit because the hotend fan blocks that... Any good solutions for the E3D? Do I rea...

Thanks guys, Today I dismounted the RAMBo board and checked the wiring. The hotend fan was connected to the "fan" header while I found in the manual that it should be connected to the "heat1" header. So I corrected that and all is fine now. The fan goes on and off automatically (...

Yes, I guess I am lucky to find a young secondhand machine like this! I already saw so many nice mods.... But I will need time to get comfortable with the machine as it is know, before I dare any modding But it has the E3D head already, so no complaints here
