print problem, printing a spinning top with tower top, tower comes out wrong

Post by magicmarc »

hi, the base of the spining top prints right, then it gets to the tower part, and after a short bit the print screws up, as shown in the picture.
this is standard pla, 0.2 layer, 20 % infill (i also tried 15% same thing happens) i also tried different temps, 210, 215, 220, etc.. same hting happens..
any ideas?
thanks all.

The printer needs to slow down when in is printing that detail. Or you need more cooling

Yep. Too hot, too fast, or both. :)

You might want to look into the minimum layer time of whatever slicer you use. That will guarantee it'll slow down as it prints the center of the top.

im using mattercontrol to slice and print to h2 hacker.
im having error using cura to slice and mattrercontrol to upload gcode and print, the gcode generated from cura looks and is wrong when added to the que in mattercontrol.

I can just about guarantee there's nothing wrong with Cura if you've got it configured properly. I can't say the same for MatterControl.

My advice is to slice on Cura and either print via SD card or use a Raspberry Pi & Octoprint.
