Build Advice - to help your build go smoother

Post by kraegar »

I'd like to compile some tips and tricks to help builds go as smoothly as possible.

1 - Print one bearing block, and test that a 608zz fits snug in it before you print all of your bearing blocks. If it doesn't, you may need a tighter tolerance on the block, or even a modified STL. (We can provide if needed)

2 - Use m3 washers on any nuts that are facing a plastic component. While not required, it's recommended.

3 - Check your linear rails, see if they're smooth. If they're not, loosen up the screws and adjust the end caps. If that doesn't do it, you can remove all of the steel balls and soak them in denatured alcohol to clean them. Run a pipe cleaner soaked in alcohol through the blocks to clean them. Lube them with PTFE oil and put them back in. If you're missing some, you can get replacements on Amazon cheap.

4 - Carefully label your extrusions when assembling the frame, so you don't flip any of the parts during assembly. Some painters tape and a sharpie is an easy way to do this, and will avoid having to take it apart later to re-orient things.

Submit more tips you think of, and I'll add them to the list!
