Hardware at Sparkfun.

Post by RegB »

I found these at Sparkfun;
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8599" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I seem to have a genetic inability to crimp.
I have watched many videos, tried a couple of different tools, etc.
It is SO bad that I have resorted to chopping plugs off of existing cables and splicing/soldering the wires to the tails.
Ugly, but it works and is less disaster prone than wires falling out of crimps or pins coming out of plugs.

Anyway, lots of other stuff there.
Hmmmm, Lulzbot kits too...

I couldn't crimp them until I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... hCgU#t=255" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Since then, I've reterminated just about everything.

Thanks Jim,
I watched that and a few others that were suggested.
I had to laugh at one of the comments (paraphrased) "It is a perishable skill".

Excuses, excuses, ,,,I have supplemented my lack of skill still further with yet another "better" tool.
It is a "fer real" Molex crimp pliers, I got a kit for $53.xx, list price $70 - came to $61.xx with shipping.
Lots of plugs, pins, etc in a decent case that (I hope) will help me to keep it all together.
The key thing about these pliers is that they are thinner than the ones I already have.

So, they WORK, even for ME :D
