Would it be possible to try to make a version of your hotend without the heat sink that fits into the Kraken/Legends heat sink?

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
Just ordered the Prometheus V2 - Ordered it now to take advantage of the 10% off and to be prepared when I'm ready to print using some more exotic filaments that the stock hotend can't handle.
I wonder if anyone has any recommendations regarding the distance to set the nozzle from the heatblock for using the standard MAX V2 speed and flow settings? It would be good to have a baseline to start with.

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
Just want to clarify a few things with the Prometheus v2 beta that I plan to install on the Rostock Max v2.
1. this is as good as any for the hot-end mount?
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:298553" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
1b. which J plate for a stock setup? or is that a silly question. I planned to print all 3 options and see whats working.
2. i am removing the old hot end (brass). Should I add connectors for the wiring?
3. anyone have a pic or short video of their rigging of prometheus v2 on a rostock max v2?
Thanks for the help. I'm looking forward to the freedom to print all sorts of wonderful materials.

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
I used the same linked mount. A couple pictures are attached.
If you use the stock aluminum posts, you will need some spacers to clear the fan height. I used 2 #6 flat washers per post that were matched heights so I did not skew the hot end.

Link to how I have my Prometheus configured... http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 73&p=68141
This is the 2nd Prometheus v1 & v2 I have configured this way and it works well for nylon, ABS, and PLA. Not a single jam and no cooking oil on the filament.

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
Hey Everyone,
It has been a while since I last posted here. I have recently put together a comprehensive user guide for the Prometheus V2 Hot End! This guide outlines the trade-offs involved in configuring the Melt-Zone and Transition-Zone of the Prometheus and will help you get the most out of your hot end. Check it out:
http://www.dta-labs.com/pages/user-guide

We are also now offering new Prometheus V2 nozzles in 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 1mm nozzle sizes! These extra nozzles are available here:
http://www.dta-labs.com/products/1-piece-nozzle-v2

The nozzle length scales with orifice size so the larger orifice nozzles can be assembled with longer Melt-Zones to allow for higher flow rates. It also makes nozzle identification much easier

24V electronics are now available as an option for those of you who run 24V printers (http://www.dta-labs.com/collections/hot ... metheus-v2).
The old V1.1 nozzles are now heavily discounted for quick sale at just $15.50 each (http://www.dta-labs.com/products/1-piece-nozzle-v1-1).
Our 10% off sale ends on August 14 so be sure to grab your Prometheus V2 before it's over!
*As an additional note for all of you Rotock users, in case you haven't seen it yet, the Prometheus V2 Hot End is also available through Trick Laser (http://tricklaser.com/Prometheus-Metal- ... HOTEND.htm) in the USA. Trick Laser is a popular aftermarket shop for high quality Rotock upgrades. Be sure to check them out!
Happy Printing
Eric

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
Make sure to test the fan that comes with the Prometheus, before you assemble everything.
It looks like a cheap alibaba fan, and mine just stutters and doesn't spin.

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
It has been a while since I last posted here. It's good to be back!
For the past several months, we have been working on an upgrade for the Prometheus Hot End called "The Prometheus System" which is a unique solution for multi-filament 3D printing! This will allow you to print multi-color objects, print with support material, and print multi-material objects with composite structures and special materials.
We are a couple of weeks away from the Kickstarter campaign for this new product so I wanted to reach out to keep you all in the loop. Check out the Kickstarter landing page and sign up to receive a notification when we launch our Kickstarter. By signing up you will be the first to know when we launch and get the first pick of the discounted Early Bird rewards!
I will start a new discussion thread for "The Prometheus System" next week when we release the teaser video along with more information about the product. We are really excited about this new product launch and we hope you are too!
----------------------------
**PRE-KICKSTARTER CLEARANCE SALE**
As we approach our Kickstarter launch, we are offering a 15% discount for all orders placed before the campaign. Head over to our website and use the discount code: DTA15OFF to receive a 15% discount for your order. We will also include a free 2 color 3D printed keychain with your order! This is just a small sample of what our new product is capable of!

Cheers,
Eric
@Tokter: I don't check this thread very often so I didn't see your post until now. Our fans are actually produced by a specialty manufacturer that makes fans for several hot end manufacturers (including E3D). Of course, there is always a chance that a defective fan makes it through QC. That is why we always provide free replacements for defective components, so I hope you will not hesitate to contact us about any issues in the future!

I am a backer of your new system and have a Max V3 on order, can't wait to play!
Rostock Max V3, 24v, Prometheus and 713maker, AON-M big printer, Mosaic Palette (since it only does PLA, trying to decide what to do with), Prusa i3 MK2 w/4 extruders (waiting), HDS6200 surveying laser scanner and two older surveying laser scanners

So did I, also sent an Email trying to push for a new Heat Sink. Instead of having both sides flat, adding the curve back to the side opposite the fan and having a cut out for a thermal fuse for safety like the new stock hotend.
Maybe if more people ask for it might happen.

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
Huh, the kickstarter only has options for orders including two extruder assemblies. That's kinda weird, since I would probably just use the two EZStruders I have on hand.
Is there any plan to sell the ProFeeder separately? It looks like it's pretty much an in-line replacement for a bowden-tube on the hot end interface. What would happen if you just jammed the ProFeeder into an E3D, I wonder?

He addressed this in the original thread about the campaign.
"@Nylocke
I understand your reasoning, however, the extruders are also a very important part of the system and are required for it to work well. The extruders have a 5:1 gear ratio so that they can reliably execute the rapid movements required for filament switching.
In addition, they are designed to effectively guide the filament in and out of the extruders for long retractions of about 150mm for filament switching since they have bowden inserts on the top and bottom.
Finally, the drive gear is very sharp and does not have a concave so it does not eat away at the filament with rapid movements like some hobbed gears do. The problem with creating other options with no extruders is that not everyone has extruders that can meet the performance requirements of this system, and unfortunately I cannot test every possible combination of hardware. I don't want to offer an option that has not been tested yet! I hope you can understand!
Keep in mind that the extruders are heavily discounted during the campaign so it should be a good investment "
Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
5:1 should be about more torque vs speed. 1:5 would be faster. i think?
Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
@KAS, yes you think correctly.
And I encourage folks to read the other thread on this topic to understand what compromises you are making to get into this type of dual extrusion. It is very time consuming to do the color change and uses a lot of filament. This is not necessarily a bad thing but you should be aware of it in order to make a more informed decision. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 055#p95053

Re: Prometheus Hot End: Customizable All Metal Hot End!
The 5:1 gear ratio allows for rapid movements without skipping steps. Unfortunately, this would not be possible using the EZstruders.
The filament switching does add a few seconds to each layer, and the hot end requires slightly more purging (about 70mm^3) However, this is the tradeoff for the higher quality printed parts and no color contamination that results from using a single Prometheus V2 hot end. We talked about this on the new thread for the Prometheus System which mhackney linked to above.
Cheers,
Eric

Obviously not printed with the Prometheus system, but the hotend is a Prometheus v2. I can't say enough good things about this hotend, it's been flawless from day one.
Don't mind the colors Just testing the Flappy bird with the colors already loaded.
