Hi,
right now I have the problem that on some prints the xy-layer seems to move around for about 0.5mm.
This leads to steps in the parts in the horizontal plane.
I cannot find anything loose on the printer.
All bearings, belts, motors, struts and things are fixed right...
Some parts, especially when the machine is cold print pretty well.
The same part, most times when the machine is warm, will have these steps...
The left parts showing the steps, the right part is ok. (don´t mint the brond PETG-blob)
anyone any ideas where to search?

What machine?
How fast are you printing?
How fast are your rapid (non-printing) moves?

Rostock Max V2
Default Speed 40mm/s
Non-printing moves 150mm/s

Re: XY-Layer shifting with warm Machine
I had a problem like this on my old FlashForge machine when my glass bed wasn't clamped well enough to the heated build plate. Don't think the probability of this happening on an RMax is high, but worth making sure it doesn't move around.
Also, more details on the machine would be helpful. Is it bone stock, enclosed, etc?

Re: XY-Layer shifting with warm Machine
Did you re-tighten the set screws/pulleys on the steppers?
Re: XY-Layer shifting with warm Machine
ok, thanks for the ideas..
The glas plate is mounted solid --> no problem here
The pulleys on the stepper motors are also tight --> no problem here
I have made some test-prints:
From left to right
#1
one prisma, spiral vase --> perfect quality (the waviness comes from the thermal distorsion since it is ABS)
#2
one prisma with about 7% infill
--> increased the print speed to 200% at the position with the green mark
--> perfekt quality
#3
movement speed reduced to 100mm/s
two prismals printed in paralell with about 7% infill
--> there is one position with a layer shift
#4
movement speed increased to 250mm/s
two prismals printed in paralell --> perfect quality
#5
movement speed reducted to 150mm/s (where it has been since long)
two prismals printed in paralell --> perfect quality
I don´t really think it has something to do with the movement speed...
I just remember that I see this problem more often when I print more than one part....

Re: XY-Layer shifting with warm Machine
Hi,
I think I have found the problem.
It seems that I am simply missing steps, due to "low" current settings in the firmware.
I have never changed angything from the machine, so I don´t know know exactly why the printer needs these settings now.
The only thing I suspect:
After having the issue, I inspected the printer. To insure that the belts don`t slip, I also tightended the belts. Maybe I have tightend the belts too much, and then started the issue.
The current was ok, but a little bit low... then it was too low....
On the other way: I have now converted the printer to ball-arms, I seems to really help the printing quality...
