dual extruder success on Rostock Max?

Hey guys,

I bought the Rostock Max excited to know that the Rambo board was dual extruder capable. So I've searched through the forum and haven't come across detailed info/instructions on dual extruders mods.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or maybe offer new information? I was hoping to do two color prints, like for instance, how two-toned, co-molded toothbrush handles look.

I assume there's enough sucess with it that tricklaser.com offers a dual hotend adapter. I could have sworn some said they have it working at some point.

Thanks guys, the reason I ask is I've patiently searched the forum as well as YouTube, and can't find any videos of duals in action on A Rostock Max. I was hoping to get visual "proof" before spending company time on it!

Hey Guys
I'm new to this Forum and was looking for a solution for the same trick.
I'm part of a project working on a Rostock based Deltaprinter at the University of Rostock(no joke) in Germany.
We were working on the two extruder problem and have hit a dead end but maybe more heads can do the trick.
We worked with an older Marlin Firmware, that had been modified by J.C.Rcholl and were able two print infill wih two extruders.
Now we updated to the new Marlin given by Rocholl on Github and the printer freaks out.
Whenever we tell it to print with two extruders, it eigther hit the max endstops hard and continues upward or it does the skirt ok but then moves to Z=200 and prints in the air.
We use a Megatronics V2.0, RepetierHost V0.90C, and Marlin Firmware publisched oin Sep. 2013 here: https://github.com/jcrocholl/Marlin" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Our guess is that somehow the new firmware must misinterpret the G-code coming from the slicer as the firmware is the only thing changed before the trouble started.

maybe its a hint or maybe not but we are stuck at that point.

Two g-codes are attached here.
both worked on the old firmware but (Ex 1+(Ex 2 infill) causes failure with the new one.
Our guess of what goes might be the problem is that the firmware overrides the slic3r settings for dual extruders and parts of both setting are used.

Jep and it seems to work fine until it eighther moves up 20cm and prints with the second extruder in the air or it runs up agains the endstops. Extruder Offsets are correct as well.

So after some work we have the Auto_Bed_Leveling working but Dual Extrusion still causes us Headache.
The problem seems to be the "T1"-command to change to extruder 2.
Once the g-code reaches the T1 the normal printing move stopps and the printer moves upwards till it crashes into the endstops.
From what I could see the T1 tries to set a temperature as defined in G10. only in our Frimware G10 is to retract filament according to M207.
Is there a way to change the T1 routine in the Slicer?

We are using the latest Marlin Firmware adjusted by J. Rocholl from Github, the Slic3r V1.0 and the Repetier host v0.95F
our printer is a Delta type Model Rostock which has been slightly modified to use two extruders

There are at least 3 topics dealing with dual hotends, perhaps one of them contains the info needed for your setup.
