First Layer

I used Slic3r for this clip. For some reason layer 1 is not filling in solid. Is this normal, or am I missing a setting?

The issue is that the extrusion width is bigger than the inside surface. I think that if you decrease your nozzle size smaller than it is (from the actual .5mm to .3mm for example) in the settings and decrease your extrusion multiplier(to limit over extrusion due to incorrect nozzle size) you can get slicer to write g-code that will fill that portion in, and get a decent quality print.
