PCB router spindle.

Post by nodak »

Two weeks ago I found this little spindlehttp://makeyourbot.org/ . I ordered up the parts and put it together this weekend. It seems to have little to no run out. I have yet to put a dial indicator on it. Here's how I mounted it. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YObUKPFy0ks[/youtube] I tried routing on a PCB board to see how it would work. I think I am having an issue with the type of bits I am using. The board just pushed down and the bits just would ride up on the piece. I don't think it is an issue of rigidness. I put a piece of 1/4 inch aluminum plate on the bed. And it still pushed the piece down and the bits would ride up on top. I was going to make my hot bed this way. Well I am going to order up some bits and see what happens.

in order to zero your axis , just reset the emergency mode by hitting the [reset] button, and then hit the button [zero] next to each axis you want to home and it will zero out, its the button between the [ref all] and the digital display

Thank you.
I am able to zero the part on the machine. What I was trying to do was set the machine zero with out limit or homing switches. This is the button just below the DRO that says machine cordnetns. By zeroing the way you discribe will only set the position of the part on the table. At least this is my understanding of that. I would like to use the soft limits so the motors will not over run when I load g code and the machine takes off in the worng direction. I found this post at airsoft that i think will solve my problem. http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index. ... ic=15186.0
