Turn it upside down and that leftover flat at the top will be its base.

Quick! Melt the green spool onto the end of the yellow and just have a different colored top!

That does sting though. That's too bad. The print looked really nice!

How do you mate 2 pieces of filament?

Is there a special process?

That's just where you mount the light fixture. Duh!

You use a modified Flux Capacitor running at 5 MegaJoules, Any more and it leaves a bulge in the filament.

Just heat up the ends and melt them together. Then take a knife or what have you and shave off the bulge it makes so it's smooth right through.

Thank you very much.

So. Could the OP have realized that the filament had finished and added some?

How about a sensor for that?

That sucks, sorry to hear it failed, it was so close. If you don't mind me asking, did you design that or download that design. I'd like to try it myself.

How about a micro-switch with a roller mounted on an angle bracket where the filament passes through the hole on the top plate? closed==OK, open==no filament, pause the print. Connect it to X (min) endstop, modify the firmware to PAUSE when the switch is open i.e. no filament.

Hey I've got a few micro-switches lying around, looks like I'll give a prototype a shot.

While at it, I'll add a funnel filament guide, and some sort of pad to clean the filament. What do you think?

There would be a lot of interested parties in your idea of putting the printer in the pause mode if a broken filament is detected.
The electrical connections and the firmware changes to implement would have to be included but I feel it is an excellent idea
that is worth pursuing.

Thanks- I am an embedded software engineer and have already done some firmware modes. I'll do a little modeling and see what I can come up with.

Please do! I've wanted to do this from the start but couldn't figure out the modifications to make in the firmware.
