Custom Electrical Enclosure for Siemens G120X Demo

Post by thwfwa »

I provide technical and sales support of motion products for C & E Advanced Technologies, a industrial controls distributor in the Midwest. One of the lines that I support is Siemens industrial drives. I use demo units of many of the products we sell for training and support. Recently I put together a demo system for a G120X variable speed drive using a custom designed control enclosure printed with my RostockMac V3.2 printer from SeeMeCNC. I used FreeCAD to design the main box, the lid, the removable front panel, and a bezel for the small panel meter. It took a couple of trials to reach the right final design, but it has been worth the effort. The box matches the curves of the Siemens drive to give a uniform profile across the top of the demo. The removable front panel and circuitry can be quicky swapped for differing presentations, based upon customer expectations. The design turned out so well that a sister company just requested two units for their use.

Nicely done! That's just screaming for heat-set inserts. :)
