This is all I see... :(

I'd love to check it out though!

What should I print on the PartDaddy printer? https://video.nest.com/live/partdaddy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm really interested in printing large objects people can interact with or objects taller than 6 foot.

Some limitations of the present design:
- retractions don't exist, so stringing is a problem right now
- overhangs, no support, must have 45 degree angle
- PLA only
- I've found 2mm layer heights and 5mm extrusion widths work best
- about 1000mm diameter X 2500mm tall max

Ideas and links to the STL model or post them here.

Ok, this is really cool. I opened it in MeshMixer and sized it to 1000mm diameter. I'll probably print it Friday night or if the current print fails.

Awesome, keep us updated! I'd love to see a picture of it full 1M diameter!

Wow, why is the print head humongous? Do you guys feed it pellets instead of filament or something?

Here's a cross section drawing. Not too fancy but shows how I did it. Retraction is not designed, however, my plan is to lift the screw and physically shut off the nozzle tip with a wiper.

A circle of NEMA 17 colorant injectors will eventually circle the extruder loaded with colorant resin pellets in process colors. I'll probably won't do this on this medium size printer...

Files here: https://github.com/seemecnc/Partdaddy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The project is a prototype. There is not a BOM. All the files on github are what I machined the aluminum parts from. The upper joining plate holes have a minor miss alignment (just a note if anyone is going to use the files).

Print fail. The open bottom with cross hatching just doesn't work very well. A solid bottom is better for thick perimeter.

Tweaking program. Restart.

This printer is "medium size" in your book? Do you have a larger one in the works?

The egg chair print is going better, but messed up just below the seat last night. I noticed Matterslice didn't z lift for some moves. I have 10mm z lift programmed and very short travel for z lift. Seems to happen with "avoid crossing boundries" checked. Other than that, large prints are working great using Matterslice. Might get messy again tonight when it tries to complete the top of the egg.

Hmm, semi trailer size maybe... hydraulics will actually make it easier to set up. ;)

Had to pause the Egg Chair print (see the live video feed). Storms are passing through right now and this evening. I'll resume tomorrow or Monday.

I wonder how long a bank of 12v car/truck batteries could keep the printer going for?
