You guys do know that there is in fact a screw in thermistor available right?
Do a search on RP-onelabs and you'll find what you are after. I like em alot.
However you can simply make one yourself too. Just get brass motherboard standoffs and either ceramic paste (better) or jbweld (not as better, LOL, but still good) the thermistor into the female end of the standoff.
The nice thing about the rponelabs thermistor is it comes completely assembled with nicely insulated and already crimped and attached plugs.

I had long since fire cemented my thermister in my heater block when I saw the video.
Not worth the the trouble to mess with a properly functioning hotend. I will definitely be making the change the next time I'm changing something on the hot end.

Best high temperature ceramic (and non ceramic) putties / adhesives are made by cotronics.

Nope. I've been using that hot end extensively and I've had zero issues with it. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I know this is an older post, but it's still rather useful. Unfortunately, the company listed for the heater cartridges no longer sells them separately. Does anyone know of a current vendor for these?

I just finished up the mods this weekend. I used 2 heater cores since I had two holes from the resistors. Now my hot end gets up to temp in 1 minute. It makes for a nice, clean look too. When I took the head off the system, the old thermistor just fell out of the hole: the RTV was hard. Same for the RTV around the resistors. I'm glad I made this upgrade before I had any issues!

Has anyone attempted to replace the two weak links in the stock hotend with pyrex tube for the inner liner, and machinable ceramic rod for the PEEK? Granted, Macor is way more expensive then PEEK, but I would rather spend 80 bucks on something to replace the PEEK, then on a whole new hotend that I would have to buy new nozzles for, and fabricate a new mount.

There is a Hotend that uses a ceramic body called the chess Hotend, it has a PTFE liner. just like the SeeMe Hotend.
The liner is the part that makes printing PLA feasible, without it PLA will expand and grab onto the walls of the Hotend jamming it. The new all metal hotends forego the PTFE liner for polished stainless steel, but there are plenty of documented issues with them and PLA.
The original Chess Hotend had no liner, but again it was found to be impossible to print PLA without it, so it was added back in.

If the Peek was replaced with Macor, it still could be used with a liner, whether it be ptfe, pyrex,or stainless, However a 3" piece of 1/2" diameter Macor is 42 bucks through McMaster-Carr.

I have been playing with the same idea and looking at the same material source. Machining the ceramic is not too big an issue and the threads can be milled to the control tear out that I have had single pointing them before.
The unknown for me has always been the liner. Is PTFE suitable at 300+C? At high temps does it start to do weird things like PEI and become attractive to plastics? Pyrex is an interesting idea except it is not the best insulator, what about Fused Quartz?
Seems like a worthy project to tackle.
