32 bit RAMBo

Last September 16th, SeeMeCNC gave a video teaser on their Facebook page of a V3 with a 32 bit RAMBo board.

Anyone know the status of it?

Yes! SeeMeCNC had a Rostock MAX V3 running the Archim AND accelerometer probing at the MRRF last weekend. It was the V3 with the red arms. And...

I got an Archim at MRRF last weekend to test. I am putting it on my V3, replacing the Duet Wifi currently installed.

What makes the Archim better than the Duet Wfif? Does SeeMe plan on selling them soon? I've never heard of these, and a google search doesn't turn up much. I don't even see anyone selling them.

I don't know the timing and plans. It has been in development for a while. I would say not "soon" but that's speculation based on what I heard.

There's two other issues that make the Archim a better choice for SeeMeCNC.

1. The board size & mounting hole pattern is the same as the RAMBo, making it a literal drop-in replacement.
2. The board is assembled in Tennessee, which is important to them. (The PCB may also be fabbed in the USA, but I don't know for sure.)

Good points:
- Is running and will come with RepRapFirmware - this is huge as RRF (David's excellent work is the best there is)
- the connectors UltiMachine uses are the Molex positive latch http://www.molex.com/molex/products/dat ... USINGS.xml and are the best out there imo. I don't know why all boards don't have these (other than cost). Travelling to RRF last weekend I had 2 connectors dislodge in transit (thanks to PA's bumpy highway). Neither of them were these positive locking Molexes.
- networking is being addressed with a mountable daughterboard. There will be a Wifi version and an Ethernet version.
- they plan to support a simple LCD display

The really big change - and the one that I give a LOT of credit to both SeeMeCNC and UltiMachine for making - is supporting RRF. It would have been a complete non-starter without that for me.

On a practical side, I believe it is good to have competition in the hardware space. Not all features/power/robustness are required by all users. There are XXXXXX Rostock MAXes out there all ready to upgrade to 32bit/RRF. Having supported a lot of folks here and on the Facebook group I know that even a drop in replacement requires a fair amount of hand-holding and support.

I don't mean this in any negative way and as time progresses this will surely evolve but I look at the Duet Wifi/Ethernet (and it's next successors) as the Porsche's of controllers. If the absolute best is essential and you have the wherewithal to install and understand what you are getting, then they will be the logical choice. The stepper drivers on Duet Wifi are simply excellent. If you need a Ford F250 workhorse truck that "just works" no matter how many times you cross wire or other bone-headed things I and 1000s of others have done, the Archim is an excellent choice.\

I have personally worked with Steve and John at SeeMeCNC, Roland and Tony at Think3DPrint3D along with David before and now with his involvement with Think3DPrint3D, and Johhny at UltiMachine over the last few years. They are all stand-up, intelligent individuals who are working hard to not only build their businesses but to advance the technology and art (I had to add that ) of desktop 3D printing. I'll do everything I can to support all of them in a positive way and to help out where ever I can. From my perspective, success for all of them is success for all of us.

Will this board have a dedicated header for the PanelDue, or will it be plugging in one wire here and another there? I didn't use the PanelDue for very long, but I thought it was great.

It's called the "Archim" and unfortunately uses the same really loud stepper drivers that the RAMBo uses. If you're going to upgrade controllers, get a DuetWifi. You won't be sorry!

Making progress, tho I note it doesnt include the FSR (which I also ordered) as a Z Probe option.. hmm.

For FSRs, use the JohnSL interface board, connect it to the Z probe connector, and use the Smart Effector setting in the configurator which has similar characteristics. Test it and calibrate the trigger height as described at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Test_and ... he_Z_probe.

The configurator is meant to help newcomers to the Duet and only covers the most common options.

Just posted here, even your manual bed setup is truely excellent.
So so impressed by the Duet, its like my Rostock Max V2 is a totally new machine.
