Here is the rotational casting machine that I have built. I made this machine to fill a need I had in making multiple copies of salesman samples, took it to Detroit maker faire and go many people asking where I got it , I never really at that point intended to Mfg. these, but demand I have heard over the past 6 months I have went ahead and decided to sell these.
A few people from here has seen this in person and also commented on the design and a definite need that it can bridge between 1 off printing and making faster copies of it to mass producing with injection molds etc.

This looks like a really great device, I can see it being incredibly useful!

I'm in for the laser cut kit. That way I'll get it early and can be molding sooner! I've been making silicone molds and casting for a few years and the ability to make hollow parts is too cool to pass up! Great idea.

I'm looking forward to it, very cool machine. I have a few parts for my fly fishing reels that would be great cast. One question - shrinkage with solid cast parts is an issue although some of the resins are very low shrinkage. It seems that this technology would insure the surface / exterior is spot on. Is that the case?

I can measure a couple things tomorrow, we cast the bottles and that would be a great check. I know if you add micro baloons to solid cast it will help with shrink. I have not noticed shrinkage on hollow cast.

Alright now I'm really going to need a big table for all my toys. I just ordered my Max v2 today and now I just backed your Kickstarter You are already at $ 4,801 in four hours.

That's very cool, I can see the time savings are huge.

I have no experience with the molding process, so my question is how do the material costs compare to 3d plastic? I realize that's a question with a lot of variables, so lets talk about the skull in your video. What is the cost of making the mold? What is the cost of making 10 roto-copies?

I'm sure you could put wax beads in the silicone mold and heat them up to melt the wax, and then just rotate the mold while it cools.

That's the cool thing about this, there are so many possibilities that it'll take a creative community like this just to figure out some of what's possible!

Great video, looking forward to you accomplishing your fundraising and getting these produced! The overall design is really simple to understand. It's a good fit for the maker! Great job! Glad I was able to see it firsthand at #MRRF

Alumilite has been doing alot of experimenting and beta testing of the machine and I have a Corona bottle that they made a silicon mold off of and did a rotational cast off out of that mold and by the dimensions off the web they say that a corona bottle is 2 7/16 diameter at the label, I just measured this one that was cast and the diameter is 2.43 - 2.44 so I think the shrinkage is not a issue with rotational molding.

Great! My assumption was that rotational casting would produce higher dimensional accuracy since the resin is forced against the inside of the mold. Just wanted to validate that. Now I'm even more excited! I've sent the link to the KickStarter to a couple of friends that I thought might be interested.

PLA will burn out. if that is what you want to do, you could skip the whole Rotomolding. Unless you need multiple copies. But then there are injectors for wax.

Thanks, I am familiar with the wax injecting process, too much wax would be needed for what we have in mind. Many repeat parts but fairly large volumes so rotational casting might be the trick. We were going to go with printing PLA with low density fills but this would mean many long prints which up until recently we were concerned about prints quitting. Since going to a fan and better SD cards it has been running all day every day.
