selling hot ends

Post by jake »

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but for school I need to build some thing and sell it. my school shop has a mill that I was going to use it to make a all steal hotend If you are interested let me know. I am thinking for a price about 15$ plus materials and shipping. my basic plan was to make it rectangular. Then tap a hole for the Seemecnc nozzle that you may already have. on the other end tap a hole for the PTC. I was going to cut fins like a heat sink and cut it down to a narrow tube right between the resisters and the heat sink to make a thermal barrier. I will also build a bracket to put a fan on the heat sink for cooling. I can make it for resistors or heater cartridges. if you any anything else you want I can do that most likely make it happen. I am going to make for my self and then I will post pictures. this post was mostly to see if people would buy hand made hotends.

I believe the thermal barrier should be stainless steel for better insulation. I'd make a prototype before you try to sell anything. If you have a printer you could always print something and sell it :) :)

Could you use an all metal hot-end and print with PEEK?

If you can find someone that makes virgin PEEK filament, then probably.

It's really expensive though, and most of the PEEK you're familiar with is likely fiber reinforced and wouldn't work to print with.

Virgin peek is available, we machine it at work for a few of our customers. I doubt you could get some filament size though, although with enough money anything is possible.
