My guess is another (larger) delta printer and the 680 stands for the the mm of probably its height. That would put it at about double the vertical size of the Max. Maybe XD is for "X-large Delta".

Ok guys, here it is. It's now named ORION, rather than XD680, thanks to Guanu on #reprap IRC The 680 stood for the ability to print a 6" square 8" tall (it has an 8" diameter build surface overall though)
We are going to start off with pre-assembled ARP (almost-ready-to-print) machines, and after we are up and running well with the assembly process, we will look at offering them in the kit form as well. Don't want to not offer a kit, but we think it'd be best to nail down the assembly process first on these, and then roll out the kit version.
Here's some pics, in case you didn't come to MakerFaire Detroit to see it!
We are going to start off with pre-assembled ARP (almost-ready-to-print) machines, and after we are up and running well with the assembly process, we will look at offering them in the kit form as well. Not 100% sure yet on the price, but prob. be right around $1500. It uses the same electronics, parts/pieces as the MAX, just less melamine parts and tslot

I was at Detroit, the ORION looks awesome! The compactness of the electronics are stupid small, when are you going to make a heated bed for it? Like I said in Detroit, I'm waiting for your guy's bed to try and put on my Rostock Mini....

Really neato looking machine.
(My only tiny tiny critic would be, magnetic arms would have been a obvious choice at this point I would have imagined, just so much easier to build, calibrate, maintain, switch out hotends, be really spiffy)

Yeah, I definitely have to second this. No reason to go with the old arms since the carbon fibre ones have proven to be such an upgrade.

I was surprised they went with the old mechanism. I wonder if they've done anything with the extrusions, how they're braced etc. I got mine all dialed in, moved it to another table, moved it back... and it was out of alignment! We're using a 'similar' arm design, but eliminates ALL of the sanding, and the shorter, more rigid arms, have a beefier side to them, making them even stiffer yet. There won't be any sanding, as the inner tabs of the platform and carriage are gone, and the ujoints will be 'sprung' outwards against the outer tabs, consistent all around. As for the t slot bracing, the machine overall is about 2' shorter. Theres a lot less moment to twist and tweak the arms in the first place. But, I've hauled two or more of the Rostock MAX's from coast to coast this year, and never really re-calibrated them at all? Just plugged them in and printed 'stuff', now, not always the prettiest 'stuff' but only minor tweaks to the z height.
Which, btw,
Do you guys know you can jog the hotend down to the table, and when you're satisfied with the z, send M251 S2 in the gcode, and that will auto-update your z height setting and store it to the eeprom in the firmware??? if not, you should try it!
