Do I need a new hot end for Nylon?

Post by Demolishun »

I am printing ABS just fine with my Rostock Max v2. However I need to be able to print Taulman Nylon (Bridge).

Am I going to need a higher temp hot end for this?

For bridge probably not, for the other Taulman nylons, I'd recommend a new Hotend.
I find bridge is more consistent at about 230-235, than it is when it's hotter

That said, I recently melted my hot end printing Bridge, and that's with a peek fan installed. I have an ESD(v6) on order to replace it just be on the safe side going forward. I consider Bridge to be right on the edge of what's safe to print with the stock hot end, so be cautious and don't push the temp more than you have to!

all three Taulman nylons should be printed well on the stock hot end of Rostock Max v2.
the suggested temp by Taulman3D are 242 Celsius degrees for the 645 and the Bridge Nylons and 245 Celsius degrees for the 618.
Those degrees are suggested for a hot end such as the MK7, as the SeeMeCNC has "longer throat" Taulman suggest a about a 5 degrees lower temp.
I got real nice results with the Bride at 237 Celsius degrees.
