Max V2 modernization

Post by Rybat »

I have a Rosctock Max V2 with updated HE280 Hotend with accelerometer that never worked....This machine electrically is far to noisy for I2C signal. I tried using differential I2C and no help..it simply does not work properly. I have updated the Ball link Armsand Tensioner's but need to update the Extruder and Bowden Tube to newer Design. This machine worked flawlessly prior to the upgrades and has been sitting on the bench now for 3 years.

I'm asking the community for suggestions to make my Max V2 sing again. What Works today and everyday?

Updated Hotend
Updated Power supply
Updated Controller
Updated Firmware
Updated Extruder

Considering the number of v2's out there with working HE280 upgrades, I wouldn't be so quick to blame the HE280. ;)

Hi, just my experience :
I too bought a V2 and put a HE280 hotend. Everything worked perfectly, i have developped a plugin and modified the firmware to add a new GCode command for an automatic calibration (result here in video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m80Zn_BZKsg). The only change that i've made on the HE280 is the connector, replaced by a molex 8-pin (https://www.ebay.fr/itm/MOLEX-8-Pin-254 ... 2142627691), the original one was too easy to disconnect;
I have update the power supply too by adding a 24v power supply for the bed (the result is amazing with 90°C reached in less than 5min)
I have changed the extruder too, for a bondtech clone.
My last update was the berd-air wich work too really good.
I will soon share some few photos from my printer if you are interrested.

I too would like to print flexible materials (specifically Tough Ink 3d) with my Rostock Max V2. What do you think is the most cost-effective way to go about it?

I've seen a method of pushing the tube up through the extruder so it nearly touches the knurled gear. You mentioned a bondtech clone extruder replacement. I'm open to all options - seeing that little kink of filament pushed out from the extruder makes me sad.
