Two slicing strategies?

Based on a comment read elsewhere, I'm lead to believe that S3D can run two (or more) slicing strategies on the same part.

If this is true, how could I go about using a "normal" slicing strategy for the first 5.5mm of the print and then change to a single-wall spiral strategy for the remainder of the print?

tnx!

insert another process, on the last advanced tab you have the start and stop heights. configure each for the same model.

So much for that idea. :(

Thanks!

brute force the spiral, single perimeter, stop retracts/wipes yadda yadda should work.

I've tried - the model won't produce output past the 5.5mm mark where it transitions to a .7mm shell (even with a .35 nozzle). The only slicer that will do it properly (so far) is Slic3r.

Cut the model into 2 parts and slice them separately. Offset the Z of top half in slicer.
Cut-n-paste the two gcode files into one?

Or if you run the newest Slic3r stand alone, I believe their are options to change slice settings at different heights.

Slic3r prints it just fine:

I'd like it to use a spiral for the tube portion to get a better look to it.

I'll look into Slic3r a bit more to see if it'll do that. Thanks for the tip Brian.

I agree with Brian. If it won't let you do 2 processes (which seems silly, but oh well) either make it 2 separate objects that just happen to be touching, or slice it both ways and cut and paste the GCode at the right height to do what you want.

That falls into the "more effort than it's worth" category. :) I can print them fine with a .35, so I'll just stick with that. Thanks though.
