Perfect print except...

Hi all,

i'm still fighting with Simplify3D settings for the Rostock Max V2.
As show the 2 images, these print are almost perfect (constant speed for every layers except the last in the top).

I used the "Choose start point closest to specific location" on the Z Tower. So all sheels was started back to the model.

From the images you can see that simplify is pushing more plastic at every start of the current shells.

here some images that show my settings and the results.

Do you have any idea? .. even seem all related to the retraction.. and the "Extra restart distance"

Thanks
Renato

I also use S3D, the only thing that looks a little odd in your setting is the retraction speed. For me it would be quite high, it may be possible that the fast retraction is pulling a "bubble" from the end of the filament and leaving it in the nozzle tip to be pushed out immediately when the retraction is reversed acting like "Extra Restart Distance" is enabled and leaving an initial spit up of material.

For the "Retract Speed" I would be down more like 20mm/sec to 50mm/sec. Over the short 8mm distance it is very unlikely that the filament retraction speed could ever even remotely approach 4200mm/sec.

Great prints otherwise!

4200 mm/min is 70 mm/s, which still seems a little high.

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I'm making some test.

It would be nice if S3D used mm/sec like the rest of the 3D printing industry. mm/min doesn't make any sense. :)

MM/Min - MM/Sec, it 's a setup parameter that you can switch either way. Use whatever blows your skirt up.

Does this happen if you only print one of those busts? It looks like it's over extruding when switching to the other part.
Maybe a back pressure issue?

Did you calibrate your extruder steps per mm?
