We the builders: Benjamin Franklin
Been printing a bunch of parts for the latest 'We the Builders' project to crowd source a bust of Benjamin Franklin which is being run in part by Todd Blatt (formerly of Makerbot employ, now working for my friends at Tinkerine!). Their previous project included a successful bust of George Washington ...

STL For Clear Plastic Cover on Extruder?
Hey guys, I looked at the Rostock MAX repository and I can't find the STL for the clear plastic cover over the extruder gear and filament drive? Does one exist which they can share?

Big spaceship
Things are hectic at the office, so I figured that I would go ahead and print some in-game assets from prior Homeworld games for people to play around with. It's by far the biggest print I've ever pulled off and was able to leave the print un-attended for the full 30 hours! 2014-07-27 22.11.15.jpg ...

Re: Full calibration
Curious, how did you mount your z-probe? Are you using it with a MAX or Orion (or other?)?
I've wanted to try this but I haven't found a suitable way to mount a z-probe and FSRs are out of the question if you use your HBP.

Re: Art's *new* RostockMax V2 (Aka Night Fury!)
So far, no, I haven't put any heatsinks on any other part of the machine. I'm currently testing out a hypothesis with the extruder stepper motor itself but I'll let you know if it pans out.

Re: Dumb question about smoothieboards
I've been using smoothie for a few months now and I love it (Azteeg X5)! One of the first things I noticed however, is how flaky/noisy its connection over USB can be. The only way I could get a reliable USB connection was to buy a new USB cable which had a ferrite bead at the end closest to the ...

Success!
I also changed my heatsinks so that they lay on the bottom of the board. The folks in #smoothieware pointed out that the PCB is designed to direct the DRV8825's heat to the bottom of the PCB. I modified my mounting bracket to support this as well.

Re: GeraldO's Build
I've been happily printing away since my last post and have been curious to see where printer electronics are headed with newer, faster boards. I picked up a smoothie enabled board, the Azteeg X5 Mini and am going to be doing a conversion shortly. I've seen a lot of positive reviews of it both on ...

Re: Smoothie Board or BeagleBone For your 3d Printer
I ended up getting an Azteeg X5 in the mail yesterday and am waiting on a new controller panel for it. What's absolutely awesome about this solution is that the source code is still clean and has a fully functional script to create a local dev environment -- a first for any FOSS I've ever synced! In ...

Re: Rostock MAX PTC Fittings Broken
Yeah, I also ordered some of the Festo connectors from (http://www.kiowa.co.uk/products/QSM-M5-4-Festo-Push-in-fitting--10-Pack/P00016767/1008) as they were recommended elsewhere in the forums. I'm hoping that the replacement connectors last long enough for these new PTC fittings to arrive from the ...

Rostock MAX PTC Fittings Broken
Hey guys, I brought this up in IRC but I just wanted to post about sourcing replacement PTC connectors. I've e-mailed SeeMeCNC for replacements but it looks like they're sold out in the web-store. Searching through the forums, I think I've found the correct size and threading for the connectors and ...

Re: Mhackney's Rostock Max
When I made the fix to it, I assumed that it was due to SeeMeCNC's extensive modifications of the UI and possibly some Rambo dependent changes to the firmware. I haven't had the time to actually find the errant commit which causes the compiler error for RAMPS boards though so there's no finger ...

Re: Mhackney's Rostock Max
Hey mhackney. I use RAMPs on my MAX and forked the SeeMeCNC fork of repetier 0.91. It compiles to RAMPS and I've been using it without fault since.

Re: GeraldO's Build
That's a good point. I noticed that the spool was binding against the holder quite a bit and may just be the source of the problems. I'll head to the hardware store after work tomorrow and try it out! I have an idea for a ball bearing based holder but first thing's first, it needs to print!

Re: GeraldO's Build
They're doing a pretty good job. Keeping the steppers warm to the touch, but not hot. My extruder is cranked up a little higher and is uncomfortable to the touch but not super hot. That being said, I'm running into some problems right now with my layer alignment. I seem to have my retraction dialed ...

Re: GeraldO's Build
Well, I don't have pics of the frame but I'm fast calibrating this thing and after a few days it's starting to look like I can get good prints out of it. I didn't even need to adjust the delta radius! Until I get more exterior pics, I took a lot of time to organize cables in the electronics bay. It ...
