Re: My try at: The Open Hand Project

I would wish you the best of luck printing the hand. This could be a Godsend to those who need it but cannot afford the astronomical prices as they are now. I certainly wish that the 3D printer community could make these and get whatever approval is necessary to use such a device. My understanding ...

Re: "Embedded" nuts, threads, etc.

I've ripped threaded inserts out of injection molded PA-66, so they certainly aren't bulletproof, but they are very strong and are probably the strongest way to place threads into a printed part. I've also had good results even with relatively fine pitch machine screws simply threaded in a slightly ...

Re: Check out this nice overhang!

Very nice print. Do you have any pictures of the finished product? Also, I assume you're using PLA?

Re: Enclosure build to print ABS and Nylon bigger and faster

I like the look on the inside, but the outside appearance is pretty bad. It looks like what it is, a few sheets of roughly cut foam taped around my printer. Thankfully the printed brackets keep them at straight angles and foil tape at the seams hides the majority of the inaccuracy in the cuts. I ...

Re: Printing with support material.

I just did a large Nylon 618 print with support in KISSlicer and it wasn't "easy" to remove, but it came off cleanly and other than a couple tight corners I just pulled it all off with pliers to remove it, no cutting or prying. 12"x12" phenolic sheet in case someone unfamiliar with the RMax needs ...

Re: Printing with support material.

I have found KISSlicer to have the best support material. This is a small piece I printed that would obviously not be possible without support, and if the support had stuck too well it would've broken the upper part. The entire piece was encased in support to support the bottom surface of the head ...

Re: Enclosure build to print ABS and Nylon bigger and faster

Meant to include, I have an E3D v5, not a v6, but a v6 should actually be even less sensitive to ambient temperature since it has a longer PTFE liner. As long as you ambient temperature stays below 90C I think you should be fine, since ABS glass transition temp is around 105C and even at that point ...

Re: Enclosure build to print ABS and Nylon bigger and faster

I enclosed my Rostock Max V1 with Polystyrene foam insulation panels lined on the inside with radiant barrier insulation. I printed some brackets made to hold sheets of acrylic that I found here and taped the foam to them with foil tape. I did not put foam on the front due to lack of a door design ...

Re: Possible skipped steps

I did in fact have a loose pulley. I had checked them but either I forgot the one in the back or where it was on a flat it felt tight but wasn't actually tight. This time I removed it along with the motor and made sure it was lined up on the flat and is tight. It wasn't on the tower I thought it was ...

Re: Possible skipped steps

I thought I had fixed the issue. Made some beautiful prints the last few days, but now I printed a part, no overhangs or anything to warp and the print randomly shifted away from the x-tower in the middle of the print. Last night I had a print fail with what looked like an extreme x-tower shift (big ...

Possible skipped steps

I have checked my belts, cheapskate tension, just replaced steppers with no improvement, and have adjusted stepper driver current to ~1amp (should be more than sufficient for x/y/z). I continue to get what appears to be skipped steps on random prints, but sometimes if the print continues for any ...

I would really appreciate it if you could upload those fan ducts to repables or as an attachment here.
